The reason why we are losing and why things have been moving left for a long time is that we lost all dialog on the fundamental questions that should be at the forefront of all converations. We lost the intellectual battle in the schools because we will not engage. We have all but eliminated the very purpose and reasoning of our Constitution and worse we have some wrong headed idea that we can not overthrow our Government. Sorry but that idea was very explicit in our founding philosophy. The damn Government is only to protect our individual rights not to dictate every aspect of our lives. At the exact time it became a no-no to talk about the potential to physically oust our government and re establish our principled Constitutional form of Government was the exact time we lost.

FDR had agents go out to farms and slaughter pigs and beef to raise the price so city sellers could make a living. I think at one point they did something similar to raise the price of wheat. --

READ TIMOTHY EGAN'S THE WORST HARD TIME: THE UNTOLD STORY OF THOSE WHO SURVIVED THE GREAT AMERICAN DUST BOWL.

Everything you talk about and more. 99.9999 . . . % of Americans have no idea what went on in OK, AR, TX, KS under FDR. The dust bowl was caused by greedy fools from the East who were lent obscene amounts of unsecured funds by the banks to grow wheat on historically unsuitable ground during a freak and short-lived period of good growing conditions during what was initially a period of temporarily unsatisfiable wartime demand. The Federal government's stance? "PLOW AND PLANT MORE ACREAGE! PLOW AND PLANT MORE ACREAGE! PLOW AND PLANT MORE ACREAGE!"

FDR and his crew TOTALLY botched their response. They prolonged and severely worsened the crisis by trying to micromanage a situation that should never have occurred in the first place and would have run its course and restored its own balance much sooner and less painfully on its own.

They plowed under the fragile grasslands and planted nonnative crops. BIG MISTAKE. It wasn't long and the bottom fell out of the grain markets, farmers could not make the payments on their notes, and the open range became the barren ground. Nothing to hold the fine soil and the winds blew as always. Drought, prairie fires, foolish farming practices: a perfect storm.

Wheat was left piled in the streets after the Great War ended and bumper crops combined to push prices through the floor. People with no ag background at all had been given loans to go make fortunes for themselves and the banks during the fleeting best of times. Just like the mortgage crisis today. At one point, FDR decided to plant "windbreaker" trees--there are places where the remnants of these long lines of trees still stand. Unfortunately, he had no idea which direction to plant them to best impede the erosion process, and ended up making a dire situation worse. He ordered his agents to oversee a program under which herds upon herds of cattle and hogs were slaughtered and dumped into pits to keep meet prices high. FDR's Fed-men came west and did this to American farmers.

You'll really enjoy the parts where all the county's folks stand together in a giant circle and step inwards toward the center, one step at a time, until they have all the jack rabbits shoved together in a small patch . . . and then open fire, start clubbing, and stomping them to death. The people were THAT hungry; the rabbits were competing with the people for every blade of grass.

Get a roll of ductape--you'll need it for your head--and READ THE BOOK! It will leave you speechless. All these years later, IT IS US!

The Constitution doesn’t say that the federal government may give money to state and local governments, so the spending is unconstitutional. Each year, the federal government gives about $400 billion (about 12% of the federal budget) to state and local governments. Congress should eliminate that spending and pass an across-the-board 12% tax rate cut. If they do that, state and local governments could change their tax rates, to ensure that they receive enough money.

This audio is interesting, combine this ifo with his discussion of a security force larger than our military, take over of our US Census, and alot of $$ - and it spells strategy to me.

It's starting, very civilly and politely at first, of course. But this could cascade and explode at the first actual confrontation:

20 states re-assert sovereignty

Well said, it is NOT business as usual.

Most people are walking around naive, like sheep, and they believe everything MSNBC says.

I have always wondered if it will definitely be a visible mark. I wonder if it could even be a mark that you have psychologically — that you’ve done to yourself — the way selling your soul would make you FEEL. Like you would look to God as someone with a great big “Traitor” sign tattooed on your forehead - or on your arm and when you greet someone it would be visible, too... Just my $.02. The Book of Revelation just strikes me as if it could be more allegorical (is that the right word?), than a precise description of everything John saw. Well, not that this isn’t what he saw, but that it still needs to be interpreted - kind of like what Joseph did for the Pharaoh in interpreting his dreams...

[BTW - I have no idea what the actual “sign” will be. I would just suggest everyone make themselves more familiar with the Book of Revelation just to be aware. Heck, even those people here at FR who AREN’T Christians (I know there are a few! :) ) should read it - JUST IN CASE! LOL Read it as though you would a “myth”, but just keep in mind that there are those of us who do believe this will happen someday. Maybe not yet, but it will be most likely feel ten-fold like what is on the horizon in people’s worries right now...]

She called the other day with some sob story about money but she never came out and asked for any. I think she knows it’s a no go. She can call Obama as far as I am concerned. ARGGGG.....lol

Tell her that when she comes asking.

Don't forget, there were morons who thought that once obama was elected, that they wouldn't have to worry about paying their mortgage or filling their gas tanks. What they didn't realize was the reason for that is that they wouldn't own a house of car to worry about.

We should try to get some of the more staunch GOP Conservatives to offer a bill that suspends, or cuts off any Federal aid money to an agency under investigation by Federal Courts for Fraud - as a precautionary measure. (Even IF the “part” of the organization that gets the money is the same “part” that is getting investigated. It’s the same group of people - the same organization.).

How would one go about suggesting an idea such as this - does anyone have a clue? How could Congress object to this precautionary measure? It could also include a clause that any business found to have committed fraud would be barred from ever receiving government aid, ever again. (That might cut the corruption in the Business Sector while we work to reverse the situation in other ways, at least...).

We have a neighbor down the street, and their %^#(*$&()* Obama Campaign sign is STILL UP!!! It drives me crazy to tell you the truth...

Anyway, my two teens came to me a few days after the election and asked for money for something... I had to turn them down, and then I joked that maybe they should go ask their neighbor for money since they think it’s a good idea to take it from others apparently... We had a great time joking about what that would be like — what they would say, etc...

Since then it’s become a way to be less annoyed with their stupid sign. If I have to turn them down for things, we just joke about going and asking the neighbor now! ROFL :)
