Bankers 'used corporate credit cards to pay for prostitutes'
Telegraph (U.K.) ^ | February 9, 2009 | Tom Leonard

A New York madam who ran one of the city's biggest escort agencies claims that prominent bankers and businessmen paid for her prostitutes with corporate credit cards.

Kristin Davis alleges that prosecutors in the Manhattan District Attorney's office decided not to pursue any of them even though she provided evidence.

Davis, who admitted charges last year of running a prostitution business employing more than 100 women, told ABC News that the men included a senior executive of a top media company, a banker who spent $41,600 and the chief executive of one of America's largest private equity firms.

Others were the part-owner of a major league baseball team, managing directors from two of the world's largest investment banks, and a prominent property developer who greeted prostitutes wearing women's underwear.

ABC News said Davis provided it with a print-out of her computerised client list, a copy of which she offered to prosecutors.

"They showed no interest. Some of these guys, I was invoicing on corporate credit cards," she said.

"I was writing up monthly bills for computer consulting, construction expenses, all of these things, I was invoicing them monthly so they could get by their accountants."

In a new book, Davis also claims that Eliot Spitzer, the former New York governor who resigned last year over a prostitution scandal, was "good for a call at least once a week".

She claims she banned him temporarily from using her services because of complaints from her prostitutes that he was "too rough" and never wanted to use a condom.

These people must not have cared about being caught. You'd think someone in a prominent position who can't keep his vices under control would at least pay cash and use a phony name.

I suppose that they could make the case that screwing people is part of their job description, so it was a business expense.

Agreed. Criminals tend to ignore possible consequences and logic.

Well, just what are they supposed to do?

Use the wife's card? What's the point of being a Master of the Universe if you can't charge the hookers?

The client list. Friends insisted that we go see the Nixon-Frost movie. It brought to mind some accusations that what the break-in was after was a Call Girl client list controled by the Rat party. It is interesting that no one every questions what the break-in was supposed to accomplish.

I've always believed the break in was about Nixon trying to get proof that Humphrey had his hand in Howard Hughes' pocket.

Nixon got caught and disgraced taking Hughes money earlier in his career, and had a real hard-on about Humphrey getting away with doing the same thing.

Also there was the later break-in of the Hughes warehouse where the the Hughes "documents" were taken. They were so incriminating to both the Pubs AND the Rats that nothing ever came of the case. It just went away, and they were never recovered.

(Thats my take on Watergate, and I'm sticking to it.)

I think the NY Governor got popped because he was making large cash withdrawals, rather than paying with a card. IIRC, what got the LE curiosity up was when he called the bank and asked them to split a $16K withdrawal into two $8K withdrawals to keep it under the Fed reporting limit on transactions. Simple fact is that when you dance with the devil, he’s got your name and number. There is no way to do this kind of stuff without leaving tracks and giving someone blackmail material.

It could have been a fishing expedition. Remember also that there was a leak that Thomas Eagleton had been in a mental hospital and gotten shock treatments, forcing his withdrawal as VP. It was bad timing, as if they’d waited until it was too late to replace him, it would have done more damage, although the McGovern campaign made McCain look competent. I think the break in was business as usual, the same type of stuff that was frequently done by both parties, and blew up.

This has been going on for years and NOT just for bankers.

In Charlotte NC, a topless bar called Uptown Cabaret is a couple of blocks from Bank of America corporate headquarters. The club has been busted a couple times for prostitution.
