Waffle House intruders cook meal

A staff report

Two men broke into a Waffle House restaurant this morning and cooked a meal, but left without eating it, police said.

It happened about 2:30 a.m. in the restaurant at 7641 Raeford Road near Wal-Mart, police said.

Two men approached the restaurant as the cook, the only person inside, was closing for the night, police said. The cook would not let them in.

But the men forced their way into the business, police said.

The cook hid in the back of the restaurant as the two cooked about $10 worth of food, police said.

Not only did the men not eat their food, they didn’t clean up nor did they leave a tip, according to police.

Probable omission: “... and alcohol may have been involved.”

You don’t know my husband. We were once at a Waffle House in Arkansas, just outside of Memphis when the electricity went off. All of the employees left the restaurant and left the customers inside the restaurant alone. Those of us who had our food finished our meals and left the money for our bills on the table. Not one of the employees came back for at least half an hour. We were traveling as were most of the customers. We paid and left and when we left there was still no electricity nor employees..
Anyone who has eaten at a Waffle House has a good Waffle House story.

I enjoy eating at Waffle House. In fact, when I’m out training soldiers at Catoosa Station Ringgold, GA, We eat breakfast every morning at the Waffle House at I-75 and US 76/Route 3. The best breakfast and friendliest waitresses found anywhere.

At that intersection, there are TWO Waffle Houses. One near Wal-Mart on a pad site, one diagonally across the intersection behind the Rental Store (a former gas staion).

"A waffle house that closes?"

lol. That's what I was thinkin'. Glad the Cook is OK. Sadly, in this economy, weird things like this even happen more, it seems....

“The best breakfast and friendliest waitresses found anywhere.”

Back in 1994 I spent several weeks outside Louisville, Kentucky working with a group of about ten people. About the only place that was open when we started the day, and ended it, was the Waffle House, right next door to the hotel we were staying at. Needless to say, I became a fan of their hash browns, smothered, covered, and whatever else they do to them. The staff was always very friendly and the food, although heavy, was always good, especially after a very long day. I have not been to one since, but if I am an area that has one again I will stop and get a meal.

My daughter and I occassionally have supper at the Waffle House in Staunton, VA, when I take her back to college after a weekend visit home. She likes their bacon with a waffle and eggs with cheese. I’m in hashbrown heaven with them.
