At a time of increased violence, corruption, and financial strain, Mexico is reported to be on the verge of collapse.
US troops stationed near the border are warned not to go into Mexico, 200 Americans have been killed in Mexico since 2004, and the U.S. Department of Defense recently listed Mexico second only to Pakistan as a country capable of completely collapsing.
In response to what appears to be near-anarchy in Mexico, Texas law enforcement is preparing for the worst; though, officials acknowledge that preparations for a huge influx of refugees may also be necessary.
The town of Juárez, Mexico, which lies just across the border from El Paso, has already seen 200 murders this year. This has caused increasing numbers of the towns residents to flee to the north.
US President Barack Obama has yet to indicate how his administration would respond if the dueling drug cartels that control much of Mexico bring down Mexicos weakened central government.
Advanced planning for Mexicos disintegration must be taking place at the highest levels within the US Military, FEMA, and the Homeland Security Administration, as such an occurrence could set off a series of events that is likely to create social dislocations and public unrest far greater than those caused by Hurricane Katrina, and possibly even September 11, 2001.
Another valuable post by AuntB, thank you, good work! Fellow Texans take note.
If it were not for the shear messiness of the take over, ought we consider Texas taking over Mexico. Removing the Narco Terrorists, and removing Texas form the Obamanation.
As if we don’t have enough problems stemming from Mexico . . . sheesh.
Democratically elected government maybe, replaced with military. Hopefully there are a few good Generals who`ll temporarily do what is necessary much like the great Augusto Pinochet.
And the man at the Helm is an unaccomplished boob who probably thinks his dialogue will solve the problem. The weakness in the U.S. will have ripple effects worldwide. Keep your powder dry.
Meanwhile, Odumbo is focused on the Porkulus and ignores all other issues. Has he visited the areas of the US hit hard by the ice storms, yet?
Looks like we need a new Topic
Collapses (Imminent and otherwise)
If Mexico collapses, the refugee strain on Texas will be catastrophic. Gov. Hairdo has probably got the fellas over at Camp Mabry (Texas military HQ) burning the midnight oil working on containment and channeling plans. I see tent cities, mile after mile of them, guarded by troops...
The US cannot afford to have Mexico controlled by warring narco-warlords. A collapse is coming, sooner or later, and when it does even Muad’dib will have no choice but to send in the boys.
This time, let’s annex it, grant statehood to those Mexican states that want in, and establish the rule of law and the US Constitution.
The next 20 years will be an interesting study in how things snowball. A lot of the problems we are seeing now got rolling in the early-mid 60s. If we had just taken a firm stand then, a lot of this crap-storm that will hit us in the next few years could have been headed off.
Then the msm would demonize the coup as right wing death squads
This time, lets annex it, grant statehood to those Mexican states that want in, and establish the rule of law and the US Constitution.
Only problem with that is to Establish the Rule of Law in Mexico, we would have to Re-Establish it in the U.S.
Welcome to New Kenya, the Obamanation!
Good thing we’ve got the border secured....
Interesting times, NormsRevenge, interesting times.
Good one!
We have no room to talk.
I like your idea, I live in Texas. The mexican gov’t may not put up much resistance anyway. IMHO they could be bought off pretty easily without much fight
You are 100% correct.
16 illegals sue Arizona rancher
An Arizona man who has waged a 10-year campaign to stop a flood of illegal immigrants from crossing his property is being sued by 16 Mexican nationals who accuse him of conspiring to violate their civil rights when he stopped them at gunpoint on his ranch on the U.S.-Mexico border.
