In the spending bill called the Stimulus package, the Head of Health and Human Services gets to decide what treatments will be allowed for patients to receive and which will not be allowed. The author, Tom Daschle, believes that the elderly should get used to the fact that when they get older they get sick and unfortunately, they die. If you are younger, you get treated, if you are infirm or elderly, you don't. So... WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU AARP???

Ruin Your Health With the Obama Stimulus Plan: Betsy McCaughey (Bloomberg)

As a senior citizen on Medicare, I don't want to live forever, but there are some very scary implications here.

Among others, there is this one...http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601039&refer=columnist_mccaughey&sid=aLzfDxfbwhzs

The stimulus bill would change that and apply a cost- effectiveness standard set by the Federal Council (464).

“The Federal Council is modeled after a U.K. board discussed in Daschle’s book. This board approves or rejects treatments using a formula that divides the cost of the treatment by the number of years the patient is likely to benefit. Treatments for younger patients are more often approved than treatments for diseases that affect the elderly, such as osteoporosis.”

The GOP needs to jump all over this. It would also be great of some outside group could run some commercials or do robo calls in Maine and Pennsylvania.

Somebody posted the link on abc comments after articles so that's how I got on to it. The Fed Gov electronic of medical records is an invasion of privacy, then there is the rationing and the rest of it. People should at least read the article at the link.

I didn't listen to Rush today.

I don't really need a source. I, for one, have been saying this since “Hillary care”. He who has the gold makes the rules. There isn't one country on the face of the planet that gives health care from government that doesn't decide who lives and who dies. In Denmark, they use a computer to decide how much to spend before cutting you off. It chooses the names to withhold care or euthanize.

Medicare has been broke for decades and that's just for elderly people. Wait till everyone, even illegals, are sucking on the teat. You won't get anything more than aspirin for your ills. With Terri Shiavo, we now know the government can declare you a non human and withdraw your rights. One day you are a human citizen with all God given rights, the next day, a court decides you are a non human and your rights are removed, kinda like Dred Scott. How many defenders will you have when you have cancer and a board votes your death because your treatment costs too much and the money could be used more effectively giving a transsexual a sex change? Maybe they found out you own a gun or you voted for Reagan or some other anti social deed.

“WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU AARP???”

The AARP sold out seniors long ago. They once were great ... but got greedy.

Yeah, it will only apply to the peons. The Ted Kennedy's and Tom Daschle's in this world will be exempt, and they both have issues. In the case of the former, it it were an ordinary person, his cancer treatment would be denied because he's too old and it's probably somewhat experimental.

I'm going to talk to my caregivers about this. Tonight I talked to my psych nurse (voted for Obama - didn't rub it in), and brought up FOCA. She said the priest mentioned it at mass, and she didn't believe it, so asked her son. I told her it was true and I think her son did, too. She seemed a little perturbed actually, maybe I shouldn't share that. We talked about the other life issues, too, she knows where I stand and why. We talked about abortifacients. How do you know all this? I read articles on news sites, left wing, right wing then try to find credible sources, that's how I know.

Abortion=euthanzia. The beginning and the end of the life cycle brought to you by the Liberal Culture of Death.
That slippery slope starting with Roe vs Wade.
I feel so bad for my grandchildren.

Ted is also obese. That would be another factor working against him if we had this plan and he wasn’t one of the privileged ones.
