Not exactly good on the gun control issue.
I like you tag line.
It was true and still should be.
Unfortunately Nationalism has been painted with a broad brush as the cause of Wars.
The Internationalist have since Wilson’s time tried to use that taint as an excuse to supress the National Spirit. A huge mistake, judging from the makeup of the United States Citizens.
I understand your point, and it’s a good one. Who is ultimately responsible though?
Have we been true to our core principles in the Republican Party? Have we governed with strict adherence to Conservative policy as Republicans? Did the party educate people, so that they would know what sound Conservative principles were?
To my way of thinking, we have not only shot ourselves in the foot, we’ve shot ourselves in the leg, the arms, and in some instances in the head, by our unsupportable drift from what we know to be right.
Why are Spector, Snowe, and Collins still members of our party? They have been voting as Democrats for decades. Here they usher in the worst bill in U.S. History. We’re at the tipping point, and they sign on to this? Good grief.
Did we refrain from implementing new big government programs. Did we refrain from rewarding those who were breaking the laws of our nation? I don’t want this to turn into a bash fest, but we just haven’t sold it, adhered to it, or led by example.
So here we are, now convinced there’s only one way out, when we had plenty of ways.
We have a fantastic ideology to sell, and the management and marketing end of our operation, has become corrupted.
THAT, is what has to change. Hopefully Steele sees it the same way.
Ping.
Hurt + Fear + Anger = Protest
Hurt + Fear + Anger + Frustration = Violent protest
Hurt + Fear + Anger + Frustration + Disenfranchisement = Riots
Hurt + Fear + Anger + Frustration + Disnefranchisement + Nothing left to lose = I feel every bit as sick as I fear for my Country :(
There's a reason the politicians constantly talk about the American People “hurting,” but never talk about their fear, anger, frustration, and their increasing sense of disenfranchisement.
The relationship between the government and the governed is like any other relationship. It can survive the occasional hurt. It can work through the fears. It can weather the anger. Frustrations can be overcome.
Betrayal, however, now that's something else. According to that folksinger from MN, “When you've got nothin’, you've got nothin’ to lose.” It's the stuff of divorces, the breaking of the best of families, and worse.
The longer this mess drags on, the more company misery finds to love, the greater the likelihood we see more of this sort of thing. Those who lived through the 1960s know and understand that this is no laughing matter.
“Plant,” nutjob, or otherwise, what happened today scares the h3ll out of me. Thank God that law enforcement and the security details did their jobs. A BIG BRAVO-ZULU to them, one and all.
Trust me, there is not a single American anywhere who does not have something to lose. It may not be much, it may not be what it once was, but it is still something. Pray for your Country; pray for your fellow Countrymen; pray that the cooler, more reasonable minds among us prevail; and yes, even pray for your enemies and those who are in error that their hearts may be changed.
End of sermon.
I agree that making a martyr out of The Marxist Onada is the last thing any conservative wants. That said, I’m gonna put on my tin hat. IMO this is nothing more than a demrat sympathy play and diversion from the bad reception Wall Street gave the socialist stimulus package. It is not an economic stimulus package.
I have read LF cover to cover. I agree with what you say.
Adversity employs great talents; prosperity renders them useless and carries the inept, the corrupted wealthy and the wicked to the top.
May they bear in mind that virtue often contains the seeds of tyranny.
May they bear in mind that it is neither gold nor even a multitude of arms that sustains a state, but its morals.
May each of them keep in his house, in a corner of this field, next to his workbench, next to his plow, his gun, his sword, and his bayonet.
May they all be soldiers.
May they bear in mind that in circumstances where deliberation is possible, the advice of old men is good, but that in moments of crisis youth is generally better informed that its elders.
Denis Diderot
Apostrophe to the Insurgents, 1782
I do wish I could believe that the enemies of America would be treated more harshly than the enemies of the Left, but I have been around long enough to know better...
Well, ya . . . that’s all well and good, but who has enough skin for a tattoo big enough for all that? ;)
Men do not write like that anymore, because men do not speak like that anymore, because men do not think like that anymore.
Or so I am told. ;) x 2
Gah. There are websites that send excrement to people. Should’ve tried that route.
This nation was founded at a Constitutional Convention. It was the scene of debate and discussion of the most fervent type. There was no gunfire involved - it was people talking, listening, arguing, and carrying their points through persuasion.
And it created a Constitution, and a nation, which uses a representative democratic republic to achieve its ends. I value that process just as much, if not more, than turning to violence to solve problems.
Idiot.. no matter what you think of the President, any threat to him is an act of war against this country. The office is much bigger than than the differences with the man.
When all is said and done, I believe our capitalist based FRee Republic and founding documents to be the best man could hope for. These are still devices of man, and ultimately destined to fail. Only God can govern with certain success.
Such is the condition we were born into. And such is the condition we will die under.
If you’re a Christian you believe there is redemption. If you’re an atheist, the prognosis is not as bright IMO.
I understand where you are coming from. I wish I had an answer for it in a contemporary setting. I don’t, other than to try to influence political movement toward the Conservative model.
ok so we sit here and say vote them out, what did King David do?
“Yep, but that didnt get it done for our Founders and it is possible that someday we will face the same challenge.”
Actually, it did. The colonists may have finally been forced into a revolution to break free of Britain. But when it came time to form their own nation, with a Constitution and a workable system of government, the Founders believed that it must be done without violence but with discussion and debate. And they created a nation founded upon the Enlightenment ideal of rational people having that debate.
They didn’t go to Philadelphia and start shooting each other, or even having fistfights on the floor of the Convention. And when two of the earliest Founders did resort to violence - the Burr-Hamilton duel - the winner had to flee the nation because it was a crime to handle disputes in that way.
You want Conservative principles to win? Win over people with debate. Or can’t Conservatives do that anymore?
Quote: You want Conservative principles to win? Win over people with debate. Or cant Conservatives do that anymore?
But and i but how do you do it when Illegals & the dead continue to vote?
Well, convincing enough people that Conservative principles are the proper solution to our problems will do it. Reagan’s landslide shows it can happen. Winning a bare majority of the opinion of American citizens just encourages vote manipulation.
If a vote tally is by too wide a margin to be manipulated, then the votes of the dead won’t matter as much.
If it is like the other nutjobs who’ve made such threats already, he’s probably a lefty who is upset that Mr. Obama is ruling far ENOUGH to the Left.
“The colonists may have finally been forced into a revolution to break free of Britain.”
May have? They absolutely were... From their own country, they were subjects of Britain.
“But when it came time to form their own nation, with a Constitution and a workable system of government, the Founders believed that it must be done without violence but with discussion and debate”
LOL. Yeah after they started an Armed Revolution against what was their own country.
You have a very selective memory in our history...very politically correct.
