“Reid (D-NV) said more than one-third of the bill is dedicated to tax cuts for the middle class.

He thanked the three Republican senators who worked to hammer out a compromise — senators Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine and Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, who broke with their party to support the plan.”

Ring, ring for GOP stimulus senators

Ring, ring, ring

When blogs started posting the phone numbers for Maine Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins and Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter — the three GOP senators who supported the stimulus bill — it got us wondering whether the influx of calls to their offices was overwhelming.

When you call Collins’ office, an automated voice quickly picks up and says, “The voice mailbox is full. Goodbye.” Click.

If you call Specter’s line, you automatically get a busy signal. (Nice.) Same for Snowe.

Which brings us to a larger point: Is it merely coincidental that when you call the Senate switchboard, you also get a busy signal?

“I haven’t gotten through. Calls are like 10-to-1 against,” sniffed one Senate aide. He’s annoyed as a result of having to actually “learn the phone numbers” of those offices he wants to call, instead of just dialing 0. Hardships.

A rep for Collins told us their offices are swamped, both in Maine and in D.C. Collins’ spokesman Kevin Kelley said most are calling to thank Collins for her support.

“I can’t tell you exactly how many calls we have received, though, if this is any indication, ... we have three incoming lines which have been continuously busy for several days now, ... and shortly after the voice mailbox is emptied, it fills again.”

A rep for Snowe said: “Our office has been inundated with phone calls ... from Maine to California. The comments have run the gamut.”

~~~
When I saw Collins quivering her thanks to Snowe and Specter, my TV was almost a goner.
How out of the loop and twisted do they have to be to be thrilled about getting kudos from Dingy Harry and being proud of their mutiny?
Who’s going to start the revolution in PA and ME to rid us of these bugs ?
I hope some good Mainahs and Pennsylvanians will seriously consider taking on this patriotic mantle. America needs you .. bad!!
Some last minute profit taking, I suppose. Tomorrow will be interesting on Wall Street, however.
When asked about Specter stepping outside party lines, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell gave him a pass.
“Sen. Specter is a member in good standing,” he said. “And I’m confident he will be re-elected with our support.”
Almost all of them see themselves as part of the same elitist club ... and there's not five ounces of spine in the whole fetid brood.
There is major hankie pankie going on. Has been for many years.
The bill includes help for victims of the recession in the form of unemployment benefits, food stamps, health coverage and more, as well as billions for states that face the prospect of making deep cuts in their own programs.
It also preserves Obama’s signature tax cut — a break for millions of lower and middle income taxpayers, including those who don’t earn enough to pay income taxes.
Ok, I am going to send the three condoms with a note that simply says: If you are going to keep screwing me, wear this.
Don’t count on it, if Murtha could be re-elected after what he said about his constituents, the three traitors can be. They’ve all been in office for years, it’s no new revelation that they’re not conservative Republicans. Yet their voters want them. This is America now.
We all need to go home from WORK and sit on our butts because people who don’t pay TAXES are getting a ‘TAX CUT’ aka ‘Obama’s signature tax cut’!
I heard a commercial on local radio asking us to pressure our
Republican House Member to support Porkulus. Why they don’t
need any extra House votes? The answer of course is, they
want to have some Republicans on the hook, when things go bad.
As Senate Minority leader, he is responsible for assigning members to serve on various committees.
In addition, since there is really no reason for any Republican to even show up at the dimocrat controlled meetings, the other Republicans on the same committees as ‘the three rinos’, should refuse to serve on any committee that they are on.
Our STATES are our only muscle left right now.
Or maybe a constitutional argument?
Other than risking tax jail to not pay off the thieves...or a modern day armed something or other...which I cannot picture or conceive.
Brainstorming for ideas is always a good thing.
As for myself.....I am getting in every liberals face I can find...friend, family and strangers who voted for the authorities to steal my earnings and my liberty.
A small thing maybe, but libs are not used to anyone questioning their morality. It feels good to see the shock on their faces.
I say shame them, any chance you get.
No, and I don’t think it would happen anyway. They didn’t just overnight change faces, this is who they’ve been, and they keep getting re-elected.
How naive are some of you. Collins was just reelected for a six-year term. Snowe is going to get reelected if she runs because it is Maine. There is no way you are going to find a Republican conservative to run against Snowe that could win in the general in Maine.
Specter is different story maybe but even then PA is not a conservative state or Toomey would have beat Specter, Swann would have won, and four conservative candidates for House would have beat the liberal Dems.
You work to take out Dems who are vulnerable. Don’t give the two, Snowe and Specter, any money but other then that there is not much you can do in solid blue states to get conservatives to win. If you want to be in a permanent minority then run someone that is far right and see what happens in blue states — it doesn’t even work in OK in statewide races.
We lost this battle, but now is time to win the WAR in 2010 and quit worrying about seats we don’t have a chance to win. Get busy and let’s go after seats we can win. I am not willing to cede States to the Dems in order to make sure that a ‘purist’ is elected. I want fiscal conservatives who put that first and foremost. I would like conservative on social issues but I would rather have a candidate that is going to save my tax dollars then worry if they are a social conservative then have a liberal Democrat that I know cares about nothing conservative.
Consider me a Republican Conservative with Common Sense on what it takes to win because to me losing is not an option. What got us thrown out of power was the growth of Government and the deficit along with a President that didn’t bother to sell his agenda very well. If you don’t win, you don’t control the agenda and you end up hoping three liberal Republicans will vote with your side. I don’t like living that way.
It really is a sad day in America. You know....I have been looking forward to the day when my only son gets married and has children. Now I am filled with dread for his future and my future grandchildren.
Thanks alot Specter, Snowe and Collins. You traitorous looters!
