I don’t recall that he said he “would hate the scrutiny”. That must have gotten by me. What I do remember is that he has said on numerous occasions that he didn’t want to take the pay cut.

What sleeping giant? If there is any such thing anymore, it’s been near-death or put back to sleep with strong drugs! I’m beginning to wonder myself what has happened to it. I thought it woke up after 9-11? But if it did, it apparently went back to sleep! Because you’d think it would’ve stopped these people from taking over. But it didn’t!

I wonder what happened to that “sleeping giant” in the last 6 months or more? I don’t want to seem fatalistic, (maybe I am)but I’m beginning to wonder if it still exists? If it does, where is it and/or why isn’t it roaring? Why didn’t it stop this all from happening? That sleeping giant, or silent majority is terribly silent these days, especially now that it is needed so much! Maybe it’s now helping the leftists?

If I were the GOP, I'd be courting independent voters yesterday.

That was the central focus of McCain's campaign. Didn't work because the conservatives didn't show up.

Better idea: return to conservatism so that the conservative base of the Republican party shows up. Then embark on a campaign to convince as many people as possible that conservatism is not just worth voting for in one election cycle, but worth believing in as a political philosophy. Expand the conservative base.

CPUSA has been around for decades. They’ve never had much influence... officially, anyway. But they did help spy for the good ol’ CCCP.

I dont think that would matter- he admitted it and sought treatment.
