According to ABC News, the use of kidnapping by Mexican drug cartels for ransom and revenge has spread beyond the Rio Grande and into Arizona — and the federal government has done nothing to stop it. Phoenix has become the second-worst city in the world for kidnappings, right behind Mexico City, with brutal dismemberments for those abductees who do not get ransomed quickly enough:
In what officials caution is now a dangerous and even deadly crime wave, Phoenix, Arizona has become the kidnapping capital of America, with more incidents than any other city in the world outside of Mexico City and over 370 cases last year alone. But local authorities say Washington, DC is too obsessed with al Qaeda terrorists to care about what is happening in their own backyard right now.
“We’re in the eye of the storm,” Phoenix Police Chief Andy Anderson told ABC News of the violent crimes and ruthless tactics spurred by Mexico’s drug cartels that have expanded business across the border. “If it doesn’t stop here, if we’re not able to fix it here and get it turned around, it will go across the nation,” he said.

I watched this story on nightline and all I could think of was the GOP ignoring our concerns. I blame my own party for this legacy.

I think its more because of anti-American liberals (in both parties) who value the rights of illegal aliens over the rights of American citizens....the real reason why the Feds ignore the Mexican drug-cartel violence...

Great job Jorge Bush and Juan McCain. Great job with the fence. Great job not making English our official language. Great job allowing various taxpayer subsidized benefits to illegals.

I live in Phoenix, and neither I nor any of my friends and family have heard a peep about all these kidnappings. Yesterday when this report came out, a radio station played a recording of a 911 call from a kidnapper, but that’s all we’ve heard. Having said that, I’m thinking about wearing my gun and holster around the house.
I blame the GOP and Jorge Bush to the point that after 30 years as a Republican I am now a registered Independent.
Good point. The GOP leadership would rather listen to anti-American groups like La Raza (THE RACE) and the US Chamber of Commerce....than their voters.

This once great nation is headed into the toilet.
I know this is really a positive; but, we helped Columbia clean out their drug cartels --- we were successful. This is a victory; but, those drug cartels did not just disappear. They just moved -- to Mexico where we helped make it easy for them to get settled in by emptying Mexico of lots and lots of their men. Some of those men brought their women and children with them; but, many left them back home.
Whole villages with old people, women and children --- easy pickings for drug cartels with no morals at all --- just driven by the money in sending drugs (easily) across our southern border.
This created the problem we are seeing now down at the southern border, ignored by Northerners 'cause "it couldn't happen to us", not realizing that once across the border, movement to anywhere in the U.S. is easy. This is just the beginning, coming to a town or city near you. I don't know what would help --- maybe, ya know, a WALL!
