NEW YORK A prominent Buffalo area businessman who founded the BridgesTV network to improve the image of Muslims in the U.S. has been arrested and charged with murdering his estranged wife by beheading hear at his companys office on Thursday.
Police have charged the husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, with second-degree murder in death of Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37.
In its logo, BridgesTV boasts of connecting people through understanding via its dish network. Its Web site quotes comments on the company by Jay Leno, Brian Williams and others, plus a screen shot of a CNBC interview with Hassan conducted by Maria Bartiromo.
The site also shows a picture of Hassan with his slain wife, described as playing an instrumental role in the creation of Bridges TV since she came up with the idea for the network.
NPR's "All Things Considered" profile the Hassans in 2004. The segment opened, "A new cable network for Muslim-Americans is up and running in Detroit. Bridges TV says it wants to inform and entertain Muslims and, at the same time, give viewers who aren't Muslims a glimpse into their culture....
"Mo Hassan was traveling from Buffalo to Detroit a few weeks after the September 11th terrorist attacks when his wife came up with the idea for the new network. They were in the car listening to the radio when they heard some derogatory remarks about Muslims."
Programs include kids shows, "American Muslim Teen Talk," Amy Goodman's "Democracy Now" and an interview show with James Zogby. Its new program "brings you balanced coverage from around the world. News you can trust."
The alleged killer is called Mo S. Hassan at the web site. He is CEO of the company after stints as a sales rep at Proctor & Gamble and as a banker in Buffalo. He got his MBA at the University of Rochester. The bio concludes: Mr. Hassan brings to Bridges TV vision, persistence, data-based decision making and financial discipline.
Police says the wife had an order of protection from the man. A murder weapon has not yet been recovered.
second-degree murder ?????????????
You can’t make this stuff up!
How's THAT piece of paper treat'n you?
What irony.
Eek. Poor woman.
I bet none of those cited here mention him, or his laughable organization, again.
Religion of peace alert.
Bet ya’ never saw this coming ping.
BridgesTV boasts of connecting people through understanding”
And also “disconnecting people from their heads through the neck”
Islam, religion of peace?
Sounds like a SNL skit.
Well THAT ought to improve the image of “main-stream” Muslims.
Racist police have prevented this man from following his religion.
Call the ACLU!
"It's all a big misunderstanding."
The "Religion" of "Peace" strikes again.
They also had those Lackawanna terrorists.
Are they the new Muslim HQ (after Detroit)?
About as effective as those Gun Free zone signs.
Well, that is a slight improvement in understanding, I guess.
That ‘n a .357, maybe...
Colonel, USAFR
Can we call it a violent cult that’s incompatible with Western Civilization yet?
I shouldn’t be laughing, but I almost fell on the floor at this.
There goes the reruns!!!!!
Should be, "Disconnecting HEADS through savage, uncontrollable impulses guided by our SO-CALLED 'Religion'".
2nd degree? Are you kidding? Did she fall on the knife?
Yeah, I want to know how they got 2nd degree, too.
I guess that they can’t prove premediation.
Scrappleface ain’t got nothing on the ROP...
Beheading? “Not that there’s anything wrong with that...”
The left tolerates this crap because the fight a common enemy. Christianity.
And they fight for a common “father” - the father of lies.
No thanks. I've seen enough muslim "culture".
I think 2nd degree means that he it wasn’t pre-meditated.
Like, they got in an argument and he beheaded her by accident.
Don't bring paper to a beheading, when a handgun could be SO much more effective.
This reminds me of the feng shui master who went amok and killed his entire family.
She had an order of protection...
That means someone in the court system believed she was in danger...
Here in TN both husband and wife have to appear in court for the judge to hand down a OOP...
BTW if she had one, why was she at his office ???
Some people learn about Islam too late.
Makes as much sense as passing a bill called a stimulus package.
I think that what a lot of us have a hard time understanding is that this guy KNOWS he didn’t do anything wrong.
Mo Hassan was traveling from Buffalo to Detroit a few weeks after the September 11th terrorist attacks when his wife came up with the idea for the new network.
This was one of the most despicable consequences of 9/11: Muslims using an atrocity committed by their "brothers" as an opportunity to recruit converts. Shameless.
Atleast he'd know where to hide the bodies!
Yeah maybe he was just cleaning his ax and it went off...
through the air and landed accidently wedged in her neck...
Ya gotta be careful...
Ax control laws coming right up...
I wonder if he thought the feng shui was better after he got done?
Now you’d think those TV purveyors of tawdry crime trash on PrimeTimeTV like Susteren and Grace and others would highlight this as a prime indicator of the violence against women in the Islami community. But, NOOOOOO!
I remember this ballyhooed channel launch.
“I think 2nd degree means that he it wasnt pre-meditated. Like, they got in an argument and he beheaded her by accident.
“
Oh, I see. So, somewhere between knocking her to the ground, holding her on the floor, reaching for the knife, pulling her hair back so her neck was exposed, then pulling her head back, and beginning to slit her throat, there was no premeditation. Gotcha’! Makes sense to me. Maybe her neck fell UP against the knife too . . . then it would be suicide.
LMAO!!!
“. . . he beheaded her by accident.”
Ayup; happens all the time.
/yes, humor/
Bridges TV says it wants to .....give viewers who aren’t Muslims a glimpse into their culture....
