And .. perhaps this tragic event will actually help to open the eyes of the American public - but the cost in human lives will be almost unbearable.

How said if it has to come to this.

Absolutely!

After all these years, just think how devastated the Japanese were and how that still lingers in their minds.

We (not FReepers) sort of sloughed off 9/11 and what it did to us as a nation and to the survivors, but something this big would never be forgotten. Too many people would be murdered, whole generations would be wiped out, and the anger and fear would never die.

Sad and ugly don’t even touch what would evolve.
