I don’t think we’re anywhere near 1933 Germany as a country in that I don’t think Obama would ever be able to pull off such wide-sweeping control of the masses, but it’s a chilling read nonetheless.

A major difference: Hitler came to national prominence after the Germans had endured hard times and were desperate for change.

Obama has assumed the presidency just as things are starting to get worse for the average person. If we're lucky, the average person will associate him with the economic changes.

Good point - they had at least a full decade after the end of WW1 for things to get really bad, and you’re right, we’re at the beginning of sorrows.

If we’re lucky indeed. His stimulus will fail, but conservatives et al will likely still get the blame, for not cooperating in bipartisan fashion, or some such nonsense.

A friend of mine’s mother was in Cuba when Castro took over. She says Obama is doing the same things.
