I remember all throughout his 2 terms trying to defend Bush and find his principles consistent with conservative values. That’s the problem with partisan politics. It took me a while to really see that I didn’t have to defend Bush to defend conservatism (actually defending him would have defended a lot of big government). I don’t have any qualms now about calling politicians like I see them, in either party. Bush was a massive disappointment to say the least.
