Stimulus Watch

Charleston, SC is getting 3 million taxpayer dollars for a 'non-profit incubator'.

Does anybody know what in the hell a 'non-profit incubator' is?

A funding source to help kick off nonprofit groups, like community organizers and orgs to coordinate the flow of fed grant money.

Just guessing, unless they are starting a no-profit chicken ranch (the type with chickens, not the other).

Yup, a factory to start nonprofit orgs.

Organizing a neighborhood near you! If one starts up near you, try to get on the board.

I’m thankful that there are no earmarks or pork in the Stimulus Bill.

Sounds like any of several business ventures I've been in over the years. Hell, I might just be a non-profit incubator. Wonder who I see about getting my money!

StimulusWatch.org is a hoot! These aren't projects that are part of the Porkulus bill ... yet ... but the “shovel ready” projects that the city mayors have proposed to be included in the block grants portion of Porkulus.

Everyone should search out their city's portion of the Porkulus and make appropriate comments (it's set up as a wiki and you may add comments about each project). I found several projects in our city that have already had the funds approved through bond elections that are listed as a project. If the city gets the money from the feds, do you believe they are going to return the bond money to the citizens?

We need to be vigilant. But we also need to heap ridicule on our elected officials when appropriate (and it is now appropriate).
