TO AFFIRM SOUTH CAROLINA'S SOVEREIGNTY UNDER THE TENTH AMENDMENT TO THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION OVER ALL POWERS NOT ENUMERATED AND GRANTED TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BY THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION.

Look, it’s a sign of the times, that’s all. From a tiny acorn grows a mighty oak and all that. All it means, for now, is that many people are finding the current state of things to be intolerable (under either party), and they’re getting at least a little bit of a stir going in their legislatures. Even if one of these resolutions passed, the real test would be if a state tried to exercise it’s authority under it. If nothing else, it represents a little bit of pushback against the steadily encroaching federal power.

I understand what you're saying, and I consider the proposing of these resolutions to be a good sign, but the federal government is acting in destructive ways at a very fast pace. That means the States, and the People thereof, must move at least as fast. Now that these resolutions have been proposed, it's time to start passing them and then act on them.

Oklahoma’s House of Representatives passed a sovereignty resolution, but not its Senate. It’s great that a State legislative house passed a sovereignty resolution. The next step is to get a State a sovereignty resolution into law and enforce it.

The people in each state elect fellow citizens (i.e., fellow citizens of that state) to represent their interests in both the state legislature and in Washinbton. Those representatives — or agents, if you will — act for the people who elected them. Thus, if a state legislature, as the legal representatives of their fellow citizens’ interests, enacts a certain piece of legislation, it is acting for its fellow citizens. If, for example, that legislature votes to secede, it is acting as agent for the citizens of that state to do just that. So, you see, the people ARE speaking, but through their duly elected representatives.

The Founding Fathers always intended for the federal government to be liited in its power, and the 10th Amendment was put there (as part of the Bill of Rights) to remind the federal governmen tof just that fact, and that any powers not specifically given to the federal govenment by the states and by the people are reserved for the states and the people. Abraham Lincoln vigorously opposed that, as he was greatly influenced by Henry Clay, who was the premier champion of a strong and dominant federal government.
