Agreed. Also, I’d like to point out that the Crusades were hundreds of years ago.
That Muslim guy beheaded his wife, right here in this country, last week.

The US wasn’t around during the Crusades, but we’re sorry for that too.Why?
The Crusades were defensive wars against Muslim aggressors that were destroying churches and slaughtering Christians.

That’s been in the works for about 20 years. IIRC, they are mostly III MEF troops coming out of Okinawa. Above small unit level, you can’t effectively train on Okinawa anyway (no large contiguous training areas), so it is not a big loss.
Personally, I liked the idea, now long quashed, of moving the entire III MEF to northern Austrailia.
