Thanks for the post. Louie Bellson was one of my musical heroes (alongside Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa) - I used a pair of “Louie Bellson” brand sticks through my high school years. :)

Louie is one of my favorite drummers. An absolutely wonderous counting machine with class. RIP.

*** one of my musical heroes (alongside Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa) ...

Gene Krupa?!? Oh NO, he was a ... DOPE FIEND!!!
:-)

'Series' I agree. Good "Drummers" are a thing of the past and "Great" Drummers no longer exist.

Off hand the last good Drum Solo I can think of in a 'Rock Song' is from .. "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida"(1), Ron Bushy, Drummer.
Guess I'm showin my age, that came out in 1968.

(1) The 'real' title was, 'In The Garden Of Eden'. It got 'goofed up' (musical term) in the recording studio and the rest as they say is history.

One night back in '69 I fell asleep listening to that. Woke up two hours later and the Solo was still playing :-)
