A New York Post cartoon that appears to link President Obama to a violent chimpanzee drew criticism Wednesday on media Web sites and from civil rights activist the Rev. Al Sharpton.
The cartoon in Wednesday's Post by Sean Delonas shows a dead chimp and two police officers, one with a smoking gun. The caption reads, They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill.''
The cartoon refers to Travis the chimp, who was shot to death by police in Stamford, Conn. on Monday after it mauled a friend of its owner.
It links the chimp to Obama, who signed his administration's economic stimulus plan on Tuesday.
At its most benign, the cartoon suggests that the stimulus bill was so bad, monkeys may as well have written it,'' columnist Sam Stein wrote in the liberal-leaning Huffington Post. Most provocatively, it compares the president to a rabid chimp. Either way, the incorporation of violence and (on a darker level) race into politics is bound to be controversial.''

This is ridiculous. The cartoon is clearly knocking the Porkulus stimulus plan, not Obama.
It is basically saying, The stimulus package is so crazy and reckless that it must have been written by a mentally ill chimp, while drugged up on wine and Xanax.
If anything, the chimp represents Pelosi and Reid, and the rest of the Democrat congress, not 0bama.
The headline is outrageous and perhaps libelous. It is one thing to write Sharpton Claims Cartoon Connects Obama to Chimp. But, to actually conclude in the headline that the cartoon was about 0bama is not only biased, but reckless. At best, it will stir up racial strife, at worst, riots and violence.
Perhaps a revised version of the cartoon could be run with the caption changed to Looks like NBC News is going to need a new president.
Someone needs to find a chimp holding his head high and looking down it’s chimpy nose...and put the word HYPE under it...
Obama gleefully signed the piece of sh*t, didn’t he? It didn’t contain a damn thing he didn’t want to be in it. They’re all equally culpable — throw Soros and Ayers in as well.
Excessive force! They can always put the lady’s face back on....look at our house speaker?
Yes, really. No matter what you think of the intelligence of a person keeping an extra large monkey around the house, or how you feel about a pending train-wreck of a stimulus bill, the hell this lady went through watching her friend’s face getting ripped off, fending off the chimp by stabbing it multiple times with a kitchen knife and the horror of seeing her pet turn into a real-life monster as she desperately called for the police to shoot the beast, is not something a sane person would use to inspire a cartoon.
Same old crap as with sports announcers who can no longer refer to players as, “that’s a big boy” or “that guy is a gorilla,” lest they be called racists and get booted out of the booth.
Except Obama didn’t write the spenulous bill, Pelosi did and she isn’t shrieking about this.
I interpret it to mean that the stimulus bill was written by someone with the mind of an enraged chimp.
I don't have a problem with it.
What does the cartoon have to do with Obama? Congress wrote the bill.
What's wrong with folks here? Really? You're playing into these baiter's hands.
The rac ones are making the connection to ZERO when there is none.
Jeez, another fool
Rev. Al, if that's your concern, you're not helping matters. I say you have a dirty mind, and race has nothing to do with the simian-drafted Porkulus bill. Chimp is as chimp does.
EXACTLY!!!
That’s just NBC going after their competition (NY Post = Fox News).
Okay, I wasn’t thinking this was a racial attack on Obama, or even an attack at all. I was thinking this bill sounds like it might have been written by a crazed chimpanzee.
Thanks, coming from you? I'll take that as a badge of honor.
Why is this an insult to O’Bummer? I thought Pelosi and Dingy Harry wrote the Porkulus Bill...
Gadzooks! Never a dull... moment, eh?
