Putin warns US to eschew socialism
The American Thinker ^ | February 18, 2009 | Clarice Feldman

What is the world coming to? Pat Dollard reports the Russian leader warned the US against adopting socialism because it doesn't work: Russian Prime Minister Vladamir Putin has said the US should take a lesson from the pages of Russian history and not exercise “excessive intervention in economic activity and blind faith in the state’s omnipotence”.

“In the 20th century, the Soviet Union made the state’s role absolute,” Putin said during a speech at the opening ceremony of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. “In the long run, this made the Soviet economy totally uncompetitive. This lesson cost us dearly. I am sure nobody wants to see it repeated.”[Snip.]

Sounding more like Barry Goldwater than the former head of the KGB, Putin said, “Nor should we turn a blind eye to the fact that the spirit of free enterprise, including the principle of personal responsibility of businesspeople, investors, and shareholders for their decisions, is being eroded in the last few months. There is no reason to believe that we can achieve better results by shifting responsibility onto the state.”

Putin also echoed the words of conservative maverick Ron Paul when he said, “we must assess the real situation and write off all hopeless debts and ‘bad’ assets. True, this will be an extremely painful and unpleasant process. Far from everyone can accept such measures, fearing for their capitalization, bonuses, or reputation. However, we would ‘conserve’ and prolong the crisis, unless we clean up our balance sheets.”

My God, up just became down.

When we have to be lectured by PUTIN saying to us Americans, ‘don’t try socialism, it doesn’t work, we’re the PROOF’, we need to get all our socialist leaders out of office and make sure they can never ever hold a single public position of power again. And I mean not even on their little school board or july 4th parade committee.

Wow! Isn't that a complete turn around!!! The Ruskies warning the USA not to embrace socialist/Commie idiology!

I guess they are no longer funding those commie traitors (John Kerry's winter soldiers) like they did in the 60's and 70's.

It's also a subliminal statement that even Putin knows what Obama is. Too bad our traitorous media keeps trying to cover up what the rest of the world knows

Armageddon is turning out to be funnier than I expected.

Well, it has that going for it.

Want to think of something really really ironic? Imagine Russia supplying logistical support to a pro-freedom group in the USA at some point in the future.

“Even Putin can see it. The U.S. is morphing into the U.S.S.A.”

The only good thing about this is no one will want to come here as the US will now be as equally crappy as the rest of the world.

I am hoping Vlad or his pals in the KGB (I forget their new name) can get us his real Kenyan BC. I think the Russians may end up being are allies against O and his Islamist pals.

So this is what going insane feels like.

I'm just waiting for my neighbor's dog to start giving me orders.

I’d feel a heck of a lot better about the Russkies, if they’d just stop helping the damn Iranians.

"Oh, the delicious sarcasm! Armageddon is turning out to be funnier than I expected."

More proof that God has a sense of humor. Once in a while he comes up with some real gut busters, like giving Mrs. Carter the two biggest boobs the world had ever seen up to that point.

Putin is nationalist first and foremost, even though he still has a strong totalitarian streak in him, he has repudiated socialism. I think this whole scenario is fabulous that Pooty-Poot is telling the US something about socialism. The USSA is a very apt description of what we’re becoming.

Crap, Pravda is already allowing tougher criticism of Obama than our own media does.

Frankly, I think the Russians should be our ally. It’s just crazy to see them support a nation trying to get nuclear arms, when those arms will be supplied to terrorists. It’s crazy for it to want to side with China, when it can see that China wants world domination.

Russia knows we aren’t going to invade.

Russia is our natural ally in the modern world. Unfortunately it’s leaders still have their heads in a 1970s mode, unable to see current world dynamics for what they are.

But then our new leader can’t either.
