While the outlines of a two-state solution are generally known, the maximum that any government of Israel will be ready to offer the Palestinians and still survive politically is much less than the minimum that any Palestinian leader can accept. The real gap between both sides is much greater than what is perceived, and that gap is growing.
The level of trust between both sides has changed. There are fewer Israelis who believe that the real intention of the Palestinians is to have only a small Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza. Furthermore, there is less trust in the Palestinians' abilities to keep their commitments, even if they undertake the right commitments.
In Gaza today there is, for all practical purposes, an independent state led by Hamas. It is not part of the Palestinian Authority because that is what the Palestinians decided. If there is an accountable state in Gaza, although it is an enemy state, Israel has a degree of deterrence because there is another party that has something to lose. Current Israeli policy claims that Israel's goal is to bring about the collapse of the Hamas government in Gaza, but that is not going to happen.

I am starting to like the idea of a two state system. The constitutionally guided United States of America (approximately 30 or so) and the Unites Socialist Republic States of Amerika. The two countries living side by side in peace. One country a third world socialist hell; the other a productive country that rewards investment and hard work. One that discourages personal responsibility and the other that encourages its citizens to try, fail and try again.
Just a dream.
The Palestinians have, time and again, stated their goal - drive the Israeli’s into the sea. I haven’t seen or read anything which makes me think their goal has changed.
Of course not. Such a dumb question.
In one a one word reply to the headline
NO
In a word, no.
We should then build a military base in Gaza.
Here is a better idea. Move the UN to Gaza.
Of course it does, but Israel is not willing to do what is necessary for it to work.
Israel must eliminate Hamas by taking a siege mentality.
Seal off Gaza, no food, water, medical aid, electricity, gas, no help whatsoever, until the Palestinians people drag Hamas into the street and kill them all.
Then sue for peace.
A demoralized, humiliated people will eventually want peace at any cost

Of course! Oh, man that would do it for sure.
Of course it does, but Israel is not willing to do what is necessary for it to work.

The question is why.
The left would NEVER let us go in peace.
And it’s not just because they view us as the guys pulling the wagon.
It’s a matter of CONTROL. They cannot allow you to live your life outside of their control.
Ha! When I saw the headline, I thought you were talking about California!
