Harry Reid says paying taxes in voluntary.

Writing a check to the Ronald McDonald House is voluntary. Having money withheld from your check under the threat of prison is not voluntary. I believe that voluntary implies having a choice. Al Capone chose not to pay taxes, look what it got him.

Just wondering how many Tax-Payers do not realize that the REFUND is their money, not the Goverment’s money $$$$$$.

Years ago I also worked where a woman was suddenly nodding off at various hours of the day.

Same story- ‘she has a sleep disorder’- but then the laws about disabilities were not even thought of.

I got hot about it when I got this excuse...then I asked the boss “How can she DRIVE herself to work with her car if she is prone to suddenly dropping off to sleep?” Isn’t she a danger to herself and others on the road?

I actually wrote down her car license number and went quietly to the police station near my house and turned her in. Told them she had severe narcolepsy and should NOT be at the wheel of her car.

She left the company a short time later. Don’t know if I was part of the cause of her removal.
She got paid for her 8 hours the same as the rest of us. I was pissed. That had to be about 1969.

Claiming more dependents....

The names and ssn must be on the W2, but NOT on the W4. You can claim as many exemptions as you choose to in order to make your taxes come out closer so you don’t get a big refund at the end. For example, there are physicians who make big bucks, and own farms that lose money. They adjust the automatic deductions.”

Clarification:

A W-4 is what an employee fills out when starting a job, changing addresses, or changing exemptions. It only has the employee’s name and address and Social Security number on it.

The W-2 is what an employer issues to the Social Security Admin- the state- and to the employee at the end of the year, summarizing the gross, fed tax withheld, Soc Sec withheld, Medicare withheld, state taxes withheld, and items like Kalifornia State Disability Insurance (SDI) withheld. The employee’s name and address and social Security number are on this document-—ONLY the employee’s number.

When a person files their form 1040, then the names and social security numbers of all the claimed exemptions are shown on the front page of the 1040, about 1/2 way down the page.

The W-4 and the W-2 NEVER contain the names and Social Security numbers of the children, etc.

According to IRS records, 171,549 current federal workers did not voluntarily pay their federal income taxes in 2007.
Maybe they're waiting for the bill to come in the mail.
