There's this new congressman back east.
You don't need to know his name, he's a nobody who's always going to be a nobody. There's no point in wasting the memory capacity.
Anyway, there's this new congressman back east, still kind of full of himself -- lots of braggadocio, not that much brain -- and he came up with a good idea.
A brilliant idea, actually.
He doesn't know it. And he probably lacks the fundamental mental capacity to understand it fully, but he's onto something.
He says people who voted against the giant bankrupt-america-this-generation-and-next stumulas package shouldn't get any of it. If you don't like it, fine, keeps your hands off it.
Specifically, here's what he told a local newspaper: "I would have liked an amendment that said if you voted against it, the money shouldn't be spent in your district.
"Let's have some accountability."
That's a good idea.
The no-name, no-brain congressman -- who happens to be a Democrat -- was grousing about a neighboring congressman -- who happens to be a Republican -- and put forward the idea that if you didn't vote for it, you don't get any of it.
I told you he was an idiot, didn't I?
Anyway, I think he's onto something. And I'd like to take him up on his offer.
My congressman voted against the stimulus bill. I would like none of it to come to my congressional district. And all those states in the middle of the country, the ones with the Republican senators, I would like absolutely none of the stimulus money to go there.
Let's follow the no-name, no-brain congressman rule. Let all the money go to the Democrat districts and the Democrat states. After all, it was Democrats who said this was essential, that America would be forever changed without it, so let them have the money.
Of course, if they have the money, they also have the tab.
If you take the bailout, you also assume the debt.
So if the Democrats want to have their party, spending all the money, let them sign their name to the bill. Let them pay off the decades of debt.
Please do. Take the stimulus and take the hangover.
That would suit us Republicans just fine.
That, of course, won't happen. That, of course, would short circuit the Democrats' redistributionist fantasy. It would uncover one of the dirty little secrets of the big-government business.
And that is that the Democrats need the Republicans. Not just to mock and ridicule.
But to pay the bills.
See, the interesting fact is that Democrats tend to be tax beneficiaries and Republicans tend to be tax payers. If you do the math, the Democrats take out of the system and the Republicans put into the system.
So if the Democrats want to go Dutch treat, that's perfectly fine with us Republicans.
But they won't go for it. That's because any borrowing program put forward by the Democrats -- like this non-stop string of stimulus bills -- is nothing but a tax on tomorrow's Republicans. They already have the graduated income tax, their crazy "tax credits," and the un-American notion that certain people shouldn't pay any income tax at all, and that takes plenty from those who produce to give to those who don't. This spending spree is nothing but an effort to up that ante, to give today's Democrats the earnings of tomorrow's Republicans.
What's happened is a political party has used the promise of theft to put a stranglehold on the country. If you vote for me, I'll give you the other guy's money. At the root of essentially every Democratic initiative there is, that's what you find.
And it's paid off. The Democrats have supermajorities in both houses of Congress, and they hold the White House.
And less than a month into their lock on power, they have run up the till for something more than three-quarters of a trillion dollars.
And Bozo the Congressman doesn't want to share.
Which is exactly what you expect out of a Democrat.
And it's going to keep working for them. Until the Republicans stop working for them. Until the nation's tax slaves have had enough and tell them to pound salt.
And then the party of take-take-take is going to be gone-gone-gone. Because when you stop passing out the free cheese, things are going to get ugly.
Try to remember that, congressman no-name.
I get the feeling that these next four years are going to be a major disaster for our country. This can't have a happy ending. No way. As Lonsberry says, "things are going to get ugly."
I'm going to move my checking account to them today.
It could end well if we take the focus of DC and focus on our respective states. We still have the opportunity to leave the Blue States with the bill. Secession is over due.
Wrong. I still pay. My nieces and nephews still pay. Their children still pay. There is no partisanship when it comes to taxes.
“...refused $7 million in Tarp funds yesterday,”
Amen! And there will be future strings attached too.
Neither of my banks are taking the TARP funds. One isn’t even Federally connected.
Then Congress calls them up to the Hill and grills them about why they didn't make loans like the money was meant for. Since they'd had to swear to secrecy, they couldn't respond and looked like idiots.
This truth came out because one CEO got fed up and told all (not in Congress hearings though)
Bank of the James Company Description
Whether you’re a Tom, a Dick, or a Harry, there’s no disputing that Bank of the James Financial Group is the holding company for Bank of the James, a financial institution serving central Virginia. Bank of the James targets individuals and smaller businesses from about 10 branch locations. The bank offers standard retail products and services including checking and savings accounts, CDs, and IRAs. Funds from deposits are used to originate commercial, consumer, and real estate loans. Residential mortgages make up about half of the bank’s loan portfolio.
Write you STATE legislators and tell them to support 10th amendment sovereignty legislation.

These resolutions tell the feds “cease and desist” your bullying and mandates.
It’s heartwarming to hear of six states turning down stimulus money - there’s hope for the U.S.A. yet!
Our state house passed the State Sovereignty bill 83-13 yesterday! The company I work for does infrastructure work and they acquired a list of all the Stimulus projects for each state. Oklahoma has 148 projects at 1.6 billion dollars.
Of course, if they have the money, they also have the tab.
If you take the bailout, you also assume the debt.
Brilliant! Drop dead great idea. Too bad the MSM won't pick up on this one... People would be dancing in the streets they'd be so happy.
Check out my tag.
Here’s the problem with the “stimulus” - none of it is directed at creating new businesses. At least not that I can tell, and due to my job I’ve been looking. The Small Business Administration is actually not a bad organization, but it’s been cash strapped for quite some time. They could use a little help from the Fed to do their part. Not only that, there are quite a number of organizations out there that do help small business not only get into business, but stay in business that are non-profit. In this economy, they’re all cash strapped and several will probably go under.
On the “shovel-ready” list for my state yesterday, there was ONE of those organizations on it and the project was an expansion of incubator facilities. Needed, but one out of 60? I saw a lot of sewer and road improvements that we in these parts could use, but the BIG projects we’re still paying for ourselves.
This package isn’t going to deliver and when it doesn’t the libs are going to whine that the people just don’t get it - especially when the general public turns against this administration. It might be a while, but it’s going to happen and unfortunately, we are all going to have to share the burden.
Thanks, I had missed that post
Bad news for our future. The number of people who get something for nothing is considerably higher than the number of people who actually pay taxes into the system. As long as we as a nation are offering free goodies, we’re going to attract (and instill) the worst attributes of humanity.
The stimulus is nothing more than what bad debt people do. They borrow from one credit card to pay another.
I thought the SBA was one of the items to get a nice chunk of funding?
