Heard today that the Tax hikes will average $10,000 over the next 5 years for every CA taxpayer. They had a $40 Billion budget shortfall. What you don’t hear about is that the State could have received $50 Billion for issuing off shore oil leases off Santa Barbara Coast. These leases wouldn’t have caused any new drilling as the oil could have been extracted from land using “Slant Well Drilling”. But of course, this is environmentally conscious California. What a bunch of Loons.
The 33 bills include $15 billion in spending cuts, $11.4 billion in borrowing, $12.8 billion in taxes and about $2 billion of federal funds from the federal stimulus package that President Obama signed on Tuesday.
The tax increases - 1-cent on the dollar sales tax, vehicle license fee and a slight increase in the state income tax - had been the primary reason why the plan could not garner enough Republican support in the Senate to push it over the required two-thirds majority.
The key here is not the money. The key is to keep the people broke and then they have control over them.
I don’t know why they don’t just increase sales tax. That way everybody pays taxes. I’m disgusted! First the only ones that get stimulated are people who don’t pay taxes cause they will spend the money. Now raise the taxes on everyone else! I am starting to hate our socialist government.
