I don't think the Steele plan will do anything either, but I'm glad he's at least making some noise and getting some press. I don't remember seeing the old GOP Chair on any show, anywhere, saying anything. Most people didn't even know his name was Michael Duncan. I would give anything if Haley Barbour was still running the party.

I disagree about the moderates destroying the party. There are many more true conservatives elected today than there was during Bob Michel's time and guys like Leach and Shays (though his vote was almost always dependable) are gone.

The press and media have been so good at eliminating our guys like George Allen, Tom Delay and Rick Santori, I don't have much hope we can turn things around.

The immediate predecessor (GOP Chair), I agree.

I also miss Haley Barbour.

re: moderates - what happened in November was (among other things) the GOP got a good enema and quite a few RINOs were thrown out. There are still some left, and they need to be shown the door also.

re: Santorum. I generally approve of Santorum, but during the last time the Sphincter ran, he had a very good primary challenger (think the name was Toomey). The Sphincter was losing.... until Santorum threw his weight behind Snarlin’ Arlen (Sen. Scottish Law) with an endorsement.

I’ll never forgive him for that.
