Al Gore urges scientists to be political to face a threat to 'the entirety of human civilization'
Denver Weather Examiner ^ | February 19, 2009 | by Tony Hake

Speaking this past Friday at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) annual meeting, former Vice President Al Gore urged scientists to get involved politically to push the anthropogenic global warming (AGW) theory. Touting the need for swift and immediate action to avert what he believes is a climate crisis, Gore urged scientists to use what he feels is a changing political environment to push the agenda of those that believe man is on the brink of destruction.

During his 50 minute presentation, the self-appointed head of the AGW movement spoke to a “rapt” audience describing a scary picture of Earth’s future. Ice caps melting, droughts in many parts of the world, an “extraordinary” death of trees in our own American west. He pointed to many recent natural disasters as evidence of manmade climate change such as the floods in Cedar Rapids and wildfires in Greece and Australia.

The theme of his speech was that of the need to bring renewable energy technologies online immediately. Painting the coal industry as the villain, he told the audience the industry had invested $500 million to mislead the public on the ability of coal to be a clean fuel and power source.

In closing, the former vice president said:

"We have a full-blown political struggle to communicate the truth. This is a task for all of us. And those of you who have not been engaged in trying to communicate effectively in your communities—to those who respect you and who understand that you have worked hard to obtain the knowledge and wisdom that you have—this is no time to sit back. This is an historic struggle.

"We as a species must make a decision. How absurd that sounds—it sounds absurd because we've never made a decision as a species and it seems implausible to think that we could. But we've now reached a stage where continuing on our present course would threaten the entirety of human civilization.

"Many of the most distinguished members of your professions, in scientific fields, have been saying now, for a few years, that in their estimation, we could have around a decade within which to make major changes in our direction lest we lose the opportunity to retrieve a climate balance that is favorable for human life and human civilization...

"And the only way that's going to happen is if those of you who are in a position to exercise influence and communicate your understanding of what this is all about make a decision to get involved....

"I'm asking you for help. I believe in my heart that we do have the capacity to make this generation one of those generations that changes the course of humankind. The stakes have never been higher. We have the knowledge, we have the emerging technology, we have new leadership, we have cabinet members and science advisers and NOAA heads and policymakers in all of the important positions who are of you, who are your colleagues...

"If I could I would motivate you to leave this city after this meeting and start getting involved in politics. Keep your day job, but start getting involved in this historic debate. We need you."

Wow. I thought we just got through an administration accused of politicizing science, and I furthermore thought that was considered to be a bad thing. Now I discover, you just have to politicize the “correct” stuff. Who knew?

VENEZUELA: Chavez calls for global offensive for socialism
August 31, 2005

excerpts...

"The environment is suffering damage that could be irreversible — global warming, the greenhouse effect, the melting of the polar ice caps, the rising sea level, hurricanes — with terrible social occurrences that will shake life on this planet."

"I believe this idea has a strong connection with reality. I don't think we have much time. Fidel Castro said in one of his speeches I read not so long ago, 'tomorrow could be too late, let's do now what we need to do'."

"I believe it is time that we take up with courage and clarity a political, social, collective and ideological offensive across the world — a real offensive that permits us to move progressively, over the next years, the next decades, leaving behind the perverse, destructive, destroyer, capitalist model and go forward in constructing the socialist model to avoid barbarism and beyond that the annihilation of life on this planet."

--Hugo Chavez, at the 16th World Festival of Youth and Students, held in Caracas on August 8-15, 2005

Obama climate czar has socialist ties
Group sees 'global governance' as solution

Stephen Dinan, January 12, 2009

Until last week, Carol M. Browner, President-elect Barack Obama's pick as global warming czar, was listed as one of 14 leaders of a socialist group's Commission for a Sustainable World Society, which calls for "global governance" and says rich countries must shrink their economies to address climate change.

By Thursday, Mrs. Browner's name and biography had been removed from Socialist International's Web page, though a photo of her speaking June 30 to the group's congress in Greece was still available.

Al is nothing more than a snake oil salesman, doing his best to drum up business so he can be relavent and increase his wealth.

But, I wish just one of the cult of GW idiots would ask hime this question:

The climate is fragile, by Algore’s own admission, right? We humans have the power to change the climate, right? We don’t fully understand the climate, as evidence I’d point to the many models that disagree and our inability to predict weather, (a derivative of climate). If we can agree on all that, the key question is:

What happens if we overcorrect and cause a cooling cycle? Food is MUCH tougher to grow in a cooler cycle, and it’s much harder to warm the planet after it’s begun to cool.

Well?

Ayn Rand had a character in Atlas shrugged, a scientist on the govt payroll who perfectly encapsulates current politicized scientific research into AGW. The more that happens the more convinced I am that she was a seer as well as a philosopher.

GORE is one of the leading lights of this new face of
“soft” demagoguery. But demagoguery just the same.
And the reason he’s come out of the woodwork, even as Global Warming has been debunked worldwide, is that he now has a thug friend and accomplice in the White House. Gore joins his voice as just another one in this far-left chorus to cast a spell over an electorate too stupid to think for themselves , or too tired to even be able to.

That’s an excelent question. Also, in previous meetings and speeches Al Gore, etc. always stressed how global warming wasn’t political and wasn’t just to scare people into voting Democrat. I guess the gloves are coming off now and they are being a little more honest.

Maybe everybody should vote for whether they want global warming or cooling.

I vote for warming. I’m sick of winter.

How can an organization created for the advancement of science allow a charlatan like Al Gore to push his man caused climate change dogma when more and more peer reviewed scientific studies are debunking it? Gore's science by political consensus flies in the face of true scientific inquiry.
