BALTIMORE – Socks, the White House cat during the Clinton administration who waged war on Buddy the pup, has died. He was around 18.

Socks had lived with Bill Clinton's secretary, Betty Currie, in Hollywood, Md., since the Clintons left the White House in early 2001.

Currie confirmed Socks' death Friday evening and said she was "heartbroken." She did not give details, referring calls to the Clinton Foundation office.

Socks was very luck to be given away to Bettie Currie when Der Sinkmeister left Washington. He traded in a classless owner for a classy one.

Why is it that Dems enter the White House without pets, make a big production out of getting one (does Obamby have his dog yet?) and ditch them when they leave office (or turn them loose in the road)?

On the other hand IIRC Bush brought his dogs to the WH with him and left with them. Come to think of it, I’m going to miss Barney cam come xmas.

Best thing to come out of the Clinton White House.

She was a cute kitty.

And notice they gave her away as soon as they left.

Here, lemme help you out with that:

Socks had lived with been foisted off on Bill Clinton's secretary, Betty Currie, in Hollywood, Md., since the Clintons left the White House in early 2001.

Everybody knows the cat and the dog were for show, only.

The pollsters told the 'Toon that a cat and a dog would play well with middle America, so...voila!, a cat and a dog showed up at the 'Toon's White House.

However, all reports indicated the cat (and the dog) were pretty good as White House pets go, so, for what its worth, RIP, Socks.

You were a better personality than your original master ever was.

Socks was an adorable cat. I remember her, Socks was the first Presidential cat. I love animals so for me this sucks, poor kitty. May she rest in peace

I thought that Weekly World News ran some good articles on Socks the Cat back in the 90s, but a search failed to turn anything up.

So, I have to make do with this photo of Pope Benedict XVI exorcising Nancy Pelosi:

No, exorcism only works if one is possessed by an evil spirit. When it’s the person themselves it doesn’t do anything.

Geez, don’t give Pelosi an out for her heart-felt passionate beliefs by implying it’s a demon in her that is responsible. SHE IS responsible. And accountable.

My 14 year old short haired calico was euthanized last Monday. Like Socks, she had cancer - Lymphoma.

I’m not a vet, but what I’ve learned from this experience is that cancer in older cats is very very tough to beat. Sometimes the cure is tougher than the disease.

My deepest sympathy to you, Sandy, and to those who loved and cared for Socks. This is my first weekend without Scarlet and I miss her terribly.

Yeah. You and me, too, but even they were sorely tempted to behave like animals while with the Clintons.
