Mass migrations and war: Dire climate scenario

CHARLES J. HANLEY, AP Special Correspondent – Feb 21, 3:00 pm ET

CAPE TOWN, South Africa – If we don't deal with climate change decisively, "what we're talking about then is extended world war," the eminent economist said.

His audience Saturday, small and elite, had been stranded here by bad weather and were talking climate. They couldn't do much about the one, but the other was squarely in their hands.

And so, Lord Nicholas Stern was telling them, was the potential for mass migrations setting off mass conflict.

"Somehow we have to explain to people just how worrying that is," the British economic thinker said.

Stern, author of a major British government report detailing the cost of climate change, was one of a select group of two dozen — environment ministers, climate negotiators and experts from 16 nations — scheduled to fly to Antarctica to learn firsthand how global warming might melt its ice into the sea, raising ocean levels worldwide.

"...scheduled to fly to Antarctica to learn firsthand how global warming might melt its ice into the sea, raising ocean levels worldwide."

Yeah, right. Just in time for the middle of summer in the southern hemisphere. What a clear hoax.

the scenarios of what might happen to Lord Stern on his journey are almost too funny to contemplate.

Stern is the “author” of the report bearing his name.

It is so wild even the warmers don’t mention it.

Delay that flight for six months in southern Chile. Then go there.

And condemning 1/3 of mankind to hopelessness and dire poverty because of exorbitantly high energy prices is going to lead to world peace? Please explain how making energy affordable only to the elite of the elite is going to cause peace to break out throughout the world.

FTA “International diplomacy is all about personal relations,” Solheim said. “The more people know each other, the less likely there will be misunderstandings.”

Yeah, boy! That sure worked in the summers of 1914 and 1939, didn’t it?

The plan is to implement World wide socialism where all will be equal and no one will be so jealous as to start a war. Of course, a certain percentage of the population will have to have access to sufficient energy so that they can go about the business of running the world.

Other than that, Antarctica has some interesting looking fish that I would like to fry or broil up. I ate everything else from oceans. How do you bait a hook on the end of a 3000 foot nylon rope?

I don’t care if the Oceans rise 20’ and the global temperature rises 10F. Civilization will survive.
