EPA Set to Move Toward Carbon-Dioxide Regulation
Wall Street Journal Online ^ | February 22, 2009 | IAN TALLEY

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama's climate czar said the Environmental Protection Agency will soon determine that carbon-dioxide emissions represent a danger to the public and propose new rules to regulate emissions of the greenhouse gas from a range of industries.

Carol Browner, special adviser to the president on climate change and energy, said in an interview Sunday that the EPA is looking at a 2007 Supreme Court ruling that requires the agency to determine whether carbon dioxide endangers public health or welfare. And the agency "will make an endangerment finding," she said.

"The next step is a notice of proposed rule making" for new regulations on carbon-dioxide emissions, said Ms. Browner, speaking on the sidelines of the National Governors Association meeting in Washington.

Officially recognizing that carbon dioxide is a danger to the public would require the government, under the Clean Air Act, to draw up regulations governing greenhouse-gas emissions from coal-fired power plants, refineries, chemical plants, cement firms, vehicles and any other emitting sectors.

This will result in the end of the United States of America.

That’s how bad the economic chaos will be that will result by such idiocy.

Better get used to holding your breath.

Exactly. Does this mean we can’t grow anything or that they will starve the people as well as America’s lands into desert?

Clean up the hormones and pollutants in drinking water
that are eliminating fertility in humans and frogs?

No. Instead, let's tax CO2 which is not even the problem.

I have a feeling that we'll all be sick of the term "czar" within a few weeks. Heck, I'm sick of it all ready. The first presidential candidate that comes along and states that he is firmly committed to pulling out the roots of socialism that have been firmly implanted in our nation's capital has my vote. The first act should be giving a swift boot to the arses of all these czars that the Obamanation is installing.

And what will they do about the REAL (most prevalent) greenhouse gas?

Water vapor, can't wait until they try to ban clouds.

It’s too bad the people that own these industries such a power plants don’t have any testicular fortitude. They could really stick it to Boy Wonder and his cronies by just shutting down their power plants. Shut them down and send everybody home. Boy Wonder would be sent back to the streets of Chicago in a heartbeat.

...any other "emitting sectors"...

Almost every house has a fossil fuel fired furnace, water heater and/or stove. We have all three. We are an "emitting sector". It's great to be in the cross-hairs.

Physicist Steven Chu, named by Oboomarang as his energy Secretary has solved the global warming crisis at a single molecule level.

As of March 21st Beer, soda, champagne will not be allowed to contain CO2. Fire extinguishers, refrigerants and aerosols will have until July 4th (formerly Independence Day)to remove Carbon Dioxide.

Hyperventilation will become a felony offense and all animals will be required to wear meters to measure CO2 and other gases (cows will be mandated meters at both ends).

These actions will remove enough CO2 to allow night time temperatures to drop to 0º F world wide and the polar ice caps will grow to levels never before seen on this planet. One unavoidable consequence of this is Polar Bears will cease to exist as all the seals will be forced to move to the equator.

The EPA should ban all new construction in the U.S. to save the planet. Nothing less than the complete destruction of America can possibly placate the Greens. This is an ideal oportunity to unleash complete economic destruction by unelected bureaucrats with no sense of reality.

The problem is that Senate Republicans won't filibuster Democratic legislation to force the EPA to hurt but not kill, by giving it the discretion that the Democrats would rather bureaucrats use than elected officials who might, just might, be held accountable by the voters for putting scores of millions of Americans out of work.

Except in California of course.
