Roger Moore is here to help Israeli group fight AIDS in Africa

Sir Roger Moore, the British-born star of seven James Bond films, will donate the fee he earns from appearing at the fourth International Eilat Chamber Music Festival to the Jerusalem AIDS Project (JAIP), an Israeli program that encourages male circumcision as a way of reducing AIDS and HIV in Africa.

Moore, 81, is narrating Saint Saens' orchestral character piece Carnival of the Animals at the festival (www.eilat-festival.com), now under way at the Herod's Forum hotel.

Some 80 musicians from around the world are taking part, performing 14 concerts in six days. Master classes are also being held.

Since 1991, Moore has been a UNICEF "goodwill ambassador" promoting women's and children's health. He was inspired to work for UNICEF by the late actress Audrey Hepburn, herself a "goodwill ambassador," after being deeply moved by India's poverty while filming a movie there.

In a phone interview with The Jerusalem Post, Moore said he had a growing interest in the importance of health and disease prevention, and said his visit was meant to promote HIV awareness and education.

"Prevention is the best cure of disease," he added.

Although he is a darling of left-leaning causes, it’s nice to see he’s not coddling Palestinians in this case. He’s a big proponent of gun control, too. His crappy politics aside, he was a quality James Bond. (I refuse to watch Brosnan & Craig bond flicks.)

How about a program encouraging not sticking your wang where it doesn’t belong as a means of combating aids?

My son still feels that I shouldn’t have signed the papers for his circumcision when he was a few days old. Even my ex was upset over it.

that...would probably be a lot harder than cutting the foreskin of an adult male.

Depending on his lifestyle choices, you may have reduced his risk to a number of STD's, cancer, and retransmission of diseases.
Then again, I'm Jewish. It was an obligation.

While they are at it they should tell the Africans to stop promoting dry sex. I tis less pleasurable, if not painful for a woman, and increases transmission of diseases.

Thank you. I’ve reminded my son of what you stated, but he still as an adult wished I had not signed the papers. Oh well, spilt milk and all that with water under the bridge and so forth.

That’s a great thing for Roger Moore to do. Most of the groups complaining loudly against circumcision are antisemitic/homosexual (especially on the left coast). It won’t hurt us Noachides (people of the nations, Gentiles) at all, and it might do some good (in re. diseases and other problems with foreskins). I was born in America during the ‘50s, BTW, and life is good. Thank you. :-)

Sean Connery > Roger Moore

I go back and forth between Connery and Bond. Connery is the quintessential Bond, of course; however, there is something to be said for Moore's witticisms and (dare I say) cheese factor ala “Moonraker.”

What a ridiculous statement. You can believe in genital mutilation if you wish but don't sling this garbage about those who wish to remain as God created them.

“groups complaining loudly against circumcision” != “people who simply refuse to circumcise themselves or their family.” There are people who want to make it illegal and that would force Jews to leave the country.

If you want to know what the anti-circumcision activism is all about, then run the following keywords in a Google search. Warning: the hits returned will be repulsive.

uncut men

1, wear a condom, 2, stick to one partner, 3, repeat as necessary. If your partner doesn’t stick to rule 2, sticking to rule 1 will save your life. So why the hell are we paying all this cash in Sub Saharan Africa?

Medical Benefits from Circumcision

Brian J. Morris, PhD DSc

Anti-circumcision lobby groups [excerpt]

The anti-circ. documents quote a Dr Paul Fleiss extensively. Fleiss was given a suspended sentence for laundering the business proceeds of his infamous daughter, Heidi Fleiss, the Hollywood madam who provided prostitutes to celebrities. This raises the question of credibility...Another of these groups is ‘UNCIRC’, which promotes procedures to reverse circumcision, by, for example, stretching the loose skin on the shaft of the retracted penis or the use of surgery. This has led to genital mutilation [140]...In the first detailed professional analysis of psychiatric aspects eight patients seeking prepuce restoration were studied and several psychological disorders were noted [82]. These included narcissistic and exhibitionistic body image, depressions, major defects in early mothering, and ego pathology. These men had a preoccupation with their absent foreskins and represented a subgroup within the homosexual community [82].

"'groups complaining loudly against circumcision' != 'people who simply refuse to circumcise themselves or their family.'"

Thank you for clarifying that for me. I did some work in favor of marriage and benefits of having fathers in families during the '90s. Anti-circumcision activists and other disagreeable groups often attempted to disrupt our e-mail list discussions.
