...so is this a thin veiled attempt to discriminate against black people?
I’m serious.
Remember: according to the NAACP monkies in the media always represent black people. Isn’t that what they said during the New York Post Cartoon controversy?

I wish these a**holes would quit monkeying around with bullsh*t legislation of this sort and start findinding legislation to
repeal which harms the economy.
People have kept primates as pets for thousands of years. It is a far less dangerous hobby than accepting Muzzies as immigrants.

why don't they let the STATES deal with this (or not).
they have federal issues to screw up and don't have time to usurp the states rights.

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. — C. I know kids that have zits. Let's propose a bill going to rid the scourge from the people.
It's all about THE CONTROL. They could care less about the attack. It is just an excuse to get MORE CONTROL.

This is Always the Dims answer to any problem: More Regulation. One monkey attacks someone, and they decide to tighten up on the kind of pet you can have. People are killed on the highways, and the Dims want to lower the speed limit to 55 and increase the number of cops. There is a financial crisis and the Dims want more regulations over the marketplace. The Dims need to find another solution to our problems, like lower taxes and No Regulation. Let the buyer beware.

"The bill, said Rep. Rob Bishop, R-Utah, does nothing to prohibit a monkey from biting, such as in the Connecticut incident, "unless the monkey was willing to chase the woman from Connecticut over to New York State." Great quote . . .
I wish these chuckleheads in Congress would get over themselves. All they know how to do is pass more regulations and spend money. Let the states deal with it - or not. Sometimes freedom means having the freedom to do stupid things.

"Eight days after a 200-pound chimpanzee critically mauled a woman in Connecticut, the House moved Tuesday to ban the transport of monkeys and apes across state lines for the purpose of selling them as pets." Once again, the house is over stepping it's jurisdiction. The house has NO business creating laws and imposing them on individual states. The power of the Federal government are limited to those granted in the constitution.
Where are they planning to house Helen Thomas?
LoL! I guess this means she is stuck in Washington. They are going to have to cage her in a back room somewhere, and have her banana's shipped in.

Well, guess some members won’t get back to congress. Too bad snakes and cockroaches weren’t included.
