Reuters reports that "the United States plans to offer more than $900 million to help rebuild Gaza after Israel's invasion and to strengthen the Western-backed Palestinian Authority, U.S. officials said on Monday. The money, which needs U.S. congressional approval, will be distributed through U.N. and other bodies and not via the militant group Hamas, which rules Gaza, said one official."
This is an insane amount of American taxpayer money to be going to "rebuild" Hamas-run Gaza, let alone through UN agencies that actually has a history of allowing Hamas members to work for them. Former U.N. Commissioner-General for Gaza and the West Bank Peter Hansen stated, back when he headed UNRWA, that "I am sure that there are Hamas members on the UNRWA payroll and I don't see that as a crime . . . we do not do political vetting and exclude people of one persuasion as against another." Further, channeling this money through Mahmoud Abbas is no better. It will be impossible to make sure that this huge amount of money does not end up supporting Palestinian Islamoterrorism, whether they are members of Fatah or Hamas. If Obama ends up proposing this outrageous bailout package for Gaza, then Congress must stand up to the President and stop the madness. If the Democrats are unwilling to to oppose the President on his Gaza "stimulus" plan, then hopefully Republicans will lead the charge to hold back the purse strings and keep nearly a billion dollars of taxpayer funds being sent to Gaza.
NOW maybe the muslims will like us.

As US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice attends the Middle East over the continuing conflict, it appears that some local newspapers are producing some insensitive cartoons—with Palestinian newspaper outlets being accused of outright racism.
The caricature depicts Rice as pregnant, with the image of a monkey in her abdominal region.
I think I finally got the Palestinians figured out... it’s an economic strategy.

You know, my house needs a new roof.
I have nine children at home who are growing fast and need more rooms, so I have to build a couple of bedrooms and a bath over the garage.
All I need is about $30,000.
Meanwhile, my employer, in order to save jobs, has cut our compensation by 5%. I’m not complaining, I’m just glad I still have a job, and the execs are getting cut 20%.
Banks, car manufacturers, and brokerage houses, most of whom are guilty of malfeasance, are all getting handouts on my tax dollars.
Even terrorists are getting HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars.
Meanwhile, my neighbors and I could use a small leg up just to keep an even keel. All we would need a miniscule fraction of the money they are squirting away like there’s no tomorrow.
I’m appalled.

$900,000,000 is a lot of money for a small place like Gaza. In fact, it’s almost enough to turn the place into a prime tourist attraction with really nice hotels and amenities and niceties...
So, why does something tell me we’ll see no difference after the money is sent to Gaza with the exception of the little killers having brand new rocket launchers....
