Obama's administration is requiring defense officials to sign a pledge that they will not release information about the 2010 budget to anyone outside the government. The article cannot be linked directly because of a copyright complaint. Here is the link: http://federaltimes.com/index.php?S=3957786
Obama is planning a much larger cut than publicly reveled. He is going with Rep Barney Frank’s idea of a 25% cut.
And where does ZERO think a lot of the info for the budget comes from? Contractors. Does he think DoD workers just pull things out of their hat for the budget. Everyone I know is laughing at his being so stupid. I didn’t like the Gates appointed by Bush and have not changed my mind.
Wait a minute....I thought in his “speech” tonight he said he wanted all the defense spending to be public...UNLIKE in the past....I’m confused.

Well secrecy is kind of “transparent.” Isn’t it?
I seem to recall that secrecy becomes a synonym for transparency during those years when members of the Democrat party are allowed to play ‘government’. The rest of the time, during Republican administrations, secrecy is bad, so bad that even the NY Times will reveal US military secrets on it’s front page.
Unlike the $787 billion Pork Pie that theyrefused to post on the internet for 5 days (violating Obama's oft-repeated promise). For that, secrecy.
It is the reason that he is keeping the budget secret. He doesn’t want to be attacked by the Republicans and Blue Dog/hawkish Dems for following Frank’s recommendations.
Have you heard If it could go lower than 25%.
Secret Budget?! What ever happened to TRANSPARENCY?!!!!!!!!
Maybe he just assumes that his administration will leak the information in sufficient quantities to count as ‘transparency’ - you know, the way that Feinstein revealed US base operations in Pakistan last week.
Did Obama say he would take care of veterans and their benefits? (I didn’t see the speech, but “heard” that he uttered these words.)
Here’s a quote re: benefits-
“To relieve the strain on our forces, my budget increases the number of our soldiers and Marines. And to keep our sacred trust with those who serve, we will raise their pay, and give our veterans the expanded health care and benefits that they have earned.”
Perhaps he will give them benefits and suddenly ‘discover’ that he’ll have to cut defense spending in other areas to cover the cost? Oh I know it doesn’t make sense, but that’s the new standard, right?
Here’s the link for the full text of the speech.

And the most open and transparent administration in history marches on...
