4,000 men in the United Kingdom are now polygamists, although some say the figure is higher.
Muslim man can claim state support of more than £10,000 a year to keep his wives, if the wedding took place in one of those countries where polygamy is commonplace, such as Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Saudi Arabia and across huge tracts of Africa.
Therefore, if he has four wives he can claim nearly £800 a month from the British taxpayer.
Controversially, a polygamist is also entitled to more generous housing benefits and bigger council houses to reflect the large size of his family. He is also able to claim £1,000 a year in child benefit for each of his growing brood.
So how do the polygamists get away with it here? Firstly, it needs to be understood that the generous benefits system allows any man and the partner he lives with to claim benefits together - even if the woman is not officially registered as his wife.
If they marry, to avoid breaking Britain's bigamy laws, such men engage in a ceremony with their second or third wife in a Nikah secretly in their own homes and never register the union officially in this country.
Another technique is for the man to divorce his first wife under British law while continuing to live with her as his spouse under Islamic law. He then gets a visa for a new wife to enter the country and can legally marry her here.
Moreover, our politically correct immigration rules state that if a husband has divorced his first wife under British law - and even if that divorce is actually suspected to be part of a plan to set up a polygamous household - a second wife from abroad must be allowed to come and live here.

The US has done essentially the same thing for the last 45 years. We have spent trillions subsidizing illegitimacy and have penalized the intact family.
Which means everyone of them go back home, marry a woman THERE, and bring her back as one more person to support in Britain.
You’d think they’d be tired of this by now.
They also bring their extra wives into the UK by saying she is a sister, cousin etc...

In India, a subset of laws called ‘Personal Laws’ allows people of different faiths to have their matrimonial laws be governed by the faith they choose to belong to.
Because Hindu law forbids polygamy, some people began to convert to Islam to take advantage of their polygamy policies. Just recently, one of the main religious figureheads of Indian Muslims decreed that conversion for polygamy will no longer be allowed, or something to that effect.
Same things happens by different means in our system.

I’m ok with polygamy. I am NOT ok with having a system that allows itself to be so badly taken advantage of. This isn’t a failure of polygamy, it’s a failure of the Nanny State.
If people hadn’t demanded a handout in the first place, we wouldn’t be where we are now.
Frankly, I don’t know why the State has to be involved with anything that people choose to do in the privacy of their homes.
Polygamy is banned. But does this have any meaning in a society with broken marriages, multiple sexual partners, rampant extramarital affairs, etc.?
Of course, there are still millions of welfare leaches that would now have to go out and get a job that would probably try and riot to keep their greedy little mouths on the government teat, but that is more a logistics problem than anything. Moving back to a real free market economy would create a glut of jobs as people rediscover truly unhindered entrepreneurialism.

Yes. In fact, I don't know why the State has to provide any benefits to even monogamous couples.
