I thought that same thing - Henry Ford may have perfected the assembly line, but it was the Germans who invented the automobile. Or perhaps it was the English.

No - It was Ransom Olds who invented and perfected the assembly. Google it and find out for youoeself. Henry Ford paid a royalty to use it with his “mas production.”
