GAINESVILLE, Fla. - A nuclear space power institute at the University of Florida has been raided by the FBI.
Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney Karen Rhew in Tallahassee says search warrants were served at the university's Innovative Nuclear Space Power and Propulsion Institute.
Rhew would not comment on the target of the investigation, but University of Florida spokesman Steve Orlando says the FBI was in the office of professor Samim Anghaie, the Iranian-born director of the institute.
Rhew would not comment on the investigation but did say no arrest warrants have been issued.

The US really needs to bring back the treason charge. And enforce it!
Hillary getting her 2012 campaign coffers reloaded?
“Rhew would not comment on the target of the investigation, but University of Florida spokesman Steve Orlando says the FBI was in the office of professor Samim Anghaie, the Iranian-born director of the institute.”
You just can’t make this sh** up!
Obama’s Fault
I tend to ignore Dick Morris but I think he is right about one thing. He says if anything goes wrong in the next couple of years the White House leaks will go like this “Secretary of State Clinton tried to warn him and the President wouldn’t listen”.
I’m guessing all the pre-work was done under the watch of the last administration (just as the recent Mexican drug cartel raids announced today were done under Bush admin). It’s very unnerving to think that the children now in charge might botch all the hard work that has gone into these (and other) ops.
Great. U of S FL in Sarasota or Tampa had terrorist Sammi Al Arian. Who hires this scum? Oh Democrats and libs.
Don’t know about you all, but I think it’s a FREAKING GREAT IDEA to have an Iranian as the director of an advanced nuclear program here in the states. /s
Wonder if the same lawyers who litigate on behalf of the Rosenbergs will defend him.
Treason is a crime defined in the Constitution. Unless there has been an amendment, it still exists.
It's inexplicable why a Muslim (I'm assuming he is), and especially an Iranian, would be the director of a nuclear space power & propulsion institute in the US. C'mon, people, grow a brain.
Effing stupid Gators. Maybe spend a few bucks extra to hire an American instead of spending money on your professional sports teams.
True, but it is never enforced and it should be.
white courtesy phone, please.
Everyone knows that a national championship is much more important than national security.
If you had spent any time around an institution of higher education in the last 10 years, you actually would have expected the directorship to have been handed to such an individual.
Our universities are under the control of VERY dangerous people.
oh please. they were helping the Iranians? shut it down for good.
