And this time the South has: All the manufacturing. Most of the agriculture.
Most of the tech development centers.
Most of the shipyards.
Aircraft factories.
Major firearms makers.
Nuclear weapons.
I like the Souths odds this time out.
You are fooling yourself. Would you care to add up the GDP of the red states and that of the blue states? You won't be so optimistic if you saw the results. Assuming Texas would form its own country, the rest would pretty much be like a Third World country with a few rich cities.

So, in other words, it’d look like Germany?

(Overwhelmingly superior firepower and the willingness to use it is the only proven peace solution.)

In the first place, I think Texas would not be its own country; its natural social and cultural tastes would make it join the rest of the Southern states, and in any case it would not want to fight the hordes of illegals flooding across its border without the help of the rest of the CSA behind it.
In the second place, when freed of federal restrictions and taxes, I believe the South would flower economically. You would soon have the South surpassing the North, if only because the majority of honest taxpayers are currently supporting the masses in large cities in the North and far west.
Too bad we can't really do this. But it was tried before, and we found out they have most of the big guns.

Actually, Spktyr would be correct.
Once the businesses saw they were facing a strictly socialist government, those businesses would be making some very quick moves to the new conservative union. Thus, all that would be left in the new "socialist union" would be government controlled businesses which would soon die anyway. The liberal side would soon be turned into Kenya West.
