Peggy Noonan has always been like those girls who go to the movies not for the story, the action, the laughs, but because she thinks the actor is SO cute. While those around her are into the plot, she’s sitting in the theater thinking “I know he dates that supermodel, but if I ran into him in the supermarket, I bet I could make him like me,” and then reads magazines trying to find out where the actor shops.
Peggy, like Chris Matthews, is infatuated with the glamor of the presidency, the tingle-inducing imagery associated with power. Like Chris, she sees only the charisma, the special effects, so to speak. She tosses on lots of talk about his budget and how desperate it is, but you can tell by the writing what gets her passion cooking—the look in the eye, the way he looks in a suit, the imagery.
She has always been this way, and it’s a shame, because too many voters are this way, too, and it led us to Clinton and now Obama.
Oh, for pete's sake.
Someone's in the kitchen. Someone's cooking. In a time of crisis, someone's in charge.
Yes--Nancy Pelosi.
But he did leave them feeling, Now I know someone's in charge, finally someone's taken ownership of the mess.
What speech did YOU hear lady?
I heard one in which he made sure every one heard he INHERITED this mess, and the Dems all cheered--most of whom were, like Obama, in charge of the purse strings when this all happened.
Firstly, Michelle is capable of looking attractive, but there is nothing beautiful about her. Secondly, what she had on looked like something you'd wear in July and/or August to a picnic. It was entirely inappropriate for the occasion and I couldn't believe it when I saw it.
Wow, is Peggy reaching with those comments. How patronizing. No one can convince me she believes a word of it.
As for the rest of the article. Gag me with a spoon. If one had never heard of her, one would presume she was a liberal democrat. What a phony.
