Who's Thomas Saenz?
Civil Rights: The open-borders crowd eagerly awaits the nomination of one of its own to a key Justice Department post, a man who has dedicated his life to promoting illegal immigrant "rights."
President Obama is expected to appoint Thomas Saenz as the nation's top civil-rights enforcer. It's a key appointment because Obama has promised to "reinvigorate" the division Saenz will lead. And the Civil Rights Division carries a wide-ranging portfolio, covering everything from hate crimes and police misconduct to voting rights and redistricting laws.
All this power will likely be turned over to Saenz, who was a top lawyer for a radical Hispanic group that wants to cede California to Mexico. Saenz is credited with killing Proposition 187 in California against the wishes of 60% of voters. That law would have denied welfare to illegals.
And you have the nerve to call President Bush pro amnesty. How dare you

Hi, Deb! Thanks SO much for those links!
Still the same...anytime anyone is around OUR president, they like him and he doesn’t talk down to them or condescend to them. He is a MAN!
DrDeb, Ohio...thank you, so much, for the posts and pictures of our dear W in Calgary and the past visits with our troops.
It’s amazing how I can be happy and sad at the same time. I just LOVE to learn about President Bush’s current activities....and I’m not at all surprised how he’s appreciated by those who meet him....but, I get so sad that he’s no longer in Office. We have such a void ....
Can’t wait for his library to be completed....I know where I’ll be going at that time....lol.
Have you heard any reports on Lynne Cheney? Report last evening that she fainted and went to ER but haven’t heard a word today......
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2200289/posts As you are absolutely clueless between the difference of being pro amnesty, which 0bama, and the left including this Thomas Saenz is, and President Bush's guest worker program. President Bush never intended with his proposal that the illegals could jump in front of the legal immigrant, unlike what the liberals want to do
Posting this here, as the front page thread is just too toxic for us.

Bush defends decision to invade Iraq
Calgary Former U.S. president George W. Bush defended his decision to invade Iraq, said risk takers, not government are needed to salvage the world economy and offered his advice to current U.S. administration during a luncheon speech in Calgary.
In his first public address since U.S. President Barack Obama moved into the White House, Mr. Bush was greeted with a standing ovation when he took the podium by close to 2,000 guests who paid $4,000 per table.
This is my maiden voyage. My first speech since I was the president of the United States and I couldn’t think of a better place to give it than Calgary, Canada, he said to applause.
*snip*
I’ll sit here all day, he said at one point, I’m flattered people even want to hear me in the first place.
For 43 minutes Mr. Bush delighted the audience with stories about life as commander in chief and now as a civilian. He also wished his successor the best of luck.
He [Mr. Obama] was not my first choice for president, but when he won I thought it was good for the United States of America. I was deeply touched and I was deeply moved when I saw African Americans on TV weeping and saying, I never thought it was possible,’ he said.
I want the President to succeed, Mr. Bush added, I love my country more than politics.
He continued: I’m not going to spend my time criticizing him. There are plenty of critics in the arena.
He deserves my silence and if he wants my help he can pick up the phone and call me, he said.

Rest here....

As always, gracious and classy (and much more restrained about the current resident of 1600 Penn. than I can find the patience to be, God love him.)
Saw clips of Vice President Cheney Sunday. How I miss Bush and Cheney.
Ah, a nice reminder of when we had a President worthy of the title.
Shepard Smith reported this evening on Fox Report with that President Bush was not going to wast his time criticizing the 0. Only someone with class would do that
Another thread rips him for not wanting obozo to fail. He’s not clinton or carter, he could care less about his legacy and is comfortable w/what he did as CIC. As well he should. Pure class.
Pray for W and Our Troops
STARWISE: As your article and the following articles indicate, President Bush has more class in his little finger than the poseur Obama has in his entire metrosexual body!
BUSH DEFENDS FREE TRADE, GUANTANOMO IN CALGARY
“. . . Genial and often self deprecating, Bush said he wasn’t concerned with making unpopular decisions. “I didn’t make a lot of new friends. I didn’t need to. I got a lot of friends in Texas.” [And right here at the DOSE, Mr. President!]

BUSH REFUSES TO CRITICIZE OBAMA IN CANADA

Amen, Starwise; our President was Always Looking for Ways to Brighten People's Lives, Always Searching for Ways to Show a Kindness to Someone. Much of his Presidency was Spent Showing our Lord's Love to as Many as Possible; we were So Blessed to have him in the White House!
Wish I could have been there....what a decent, decent, man.
And Laura too!
More from San Diego's 2/27 Tea Party
I also got to use the bull horn to say, "We hear you Rick Santelli. The nation heard you. ...And the people who did this to our Country are hearing from ALL of us now!" (I thank W for his quote! - what a thrill to say it with a bull horn, too!)
Is that you on the bullhorn? . . . You are just too AWESOME!!
Thank you! Yep. We were such a great crowd, too...nearly 450 at 9AM on a weekday! The Captain of the police dept asked his guys if anyone got “unruly” and the policeman answered after smiling, “The most unruly anyone got was when 6 people asked me to take a picture with them at the same time! If ALL protests were THIS great....”

BUSH MAKES BIG IMPRESSION IN CALGARY
. . . More than 1,500 people paid $400 each to hear Bush make his maiden paid speech after leaving office.
The consensus among those who talked to reporters after the two-hour speech and question-and-answer period was that Bush was worth every penny.
“I thought it was very well received. He was very complimentary of Canada as a neighbour and complimentary of our resource-based world here,” said Denny Hop, who does estate planning.

POPULAR CALGARY RESTAURANT SURPRISED BY BUSH VISIT
Calgary Chef Rocco Terrigno has cooked for celebrities before, but not until yesterday did the Secret Service show up in advance of his most famous customer of all.
. . . “He told me he loves pasta so that’s what I made for him: my special pasta dish and he ate all of it,” said Terrigno. “He was very curious about what part of Rome I had come from and you know, he was down-to-earth, pleasant and asked about me and the staff.”
. . . After eating, Bush went to meet the other diners and Terrigno said the former president took time to shake hands and thank each of the workers at the restaurant.
“HE EVEN SPENT TIME WITH MY DISHWASHER,” said Terrigno. [That’s our big-hearted President!]

GEORGE W BUSH TO WRITE MEMOIR ABOUT ‘DECISIONS’
By Hillel Italie
NEW YORK Former President George W. Bush, who once famously called himself “The Decider,” is writing a book about decisions.
. . . Bush’s book, tentatively (not decisively) called “Decision Points,” is scheduled for a 2010 release by Crown, an imprint of the Crown Publishing Group. It is unusual in a couple of ways.
Instead of telling his life story, Bush will concentrate on about a dozen personal and presidential choices, from giving up drinking to picking Dick Cheney as his vice president to sending troops to Iraq. He will also write about his relationship with family members, including his father, the first President Bush, his religious faith and his highly criticized response to Hurricane Katrina.
I CAN’T WAIT TO BUY THIS BOOK!
[I believe Karl Rove’s book will be released first (later this year), then Laura’s book early in 2010 and the President’s book later in 2010. Condi Rice plans to release her first in a two book series in 2011. And VP Cheney will release a book sometime in 2010 or 2011.]
