Catholic Church slams new code of conduct forcing teachers to promote Islam and gay rights

By SIMON CALDWELL 02nd March 2009

Oona Stannard: 'It would not be possible for a person of faith to promote another faith ¿ this is a matter of conscience'

The Roman Catholic Church has severely criticised a proposed new code of conduct for teachers which it says will force Christian schools to actively promote Islam and gay rights.

The Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales has warned the General Teaching Council, by the professional regulatory body, that many teachers will quit the profession because they will not be able to accept the revised code of conduct in good conscience.

Their advisers say the code would also seriously undermine the religious character of church schools by imposing on them a hostile form of secular morality.

The legally-binding code would discriminate against Christian teachers in recruitment and in the classroom, they say.

Principle 4 of the code demands that teachers ‘proactively challenge discrimination’ and ‘promote equality and value diversity in all their professional relationships and interactions’ before they can be registered.

Maybe the Catholic Church should worry about what’s being taught at so-called “Catholic” colleges, too.

I open the latest Boston College alumni magazine to find out that they’ve created a new major: “Islamic Civilizations and Societies.”

Then another article turns into a conservative-bashing fest:

And the Church wonders why liberal cr*p happens in schools?

This is insane as well as dangerous. Our God is a jealous God and he will not tolerate anyone teaching this garbage.

When He decides that it is time for His children to come home, those who have defied him will pay the ultimate price.

Proud to be Catholic.

Catholics have let me down in the past.

The Church has never let me down.

How any Catholic can vote Dem when the number 1 acid test is Roe-v-Wade is beyond me.

I had to look carefully to see if it was happening here or in Britain.

No, maybe they should take a stand for their GOD & for THE TRUTH as proclaimed in His Word. And it’s getting so that this may mean jail, or worse. It all comes down to obeying the laws of man, or obeying the Laws of God.

Read Daniel 3 sometime.

I asked that very question to Catholics who voted for Obama. Their answer invariably was: ‘Yes, but there are other issues beside abortion.’

And to think that 54%!!! of them voted Dem. Sickening.

Maybe those Cafeteria Catholics should find another Church/Faith/Religion?

The Catholic Church is clear. Dogma and Doctrine. It’s not that difficult to understand.

So, the Catholic Church is clear and always has been. The American Catholic Church is far less clear and will change once American Catholics demand change. As far as I can see, many American Catholics don’t want to follow the Catholic Church.

Granted, real Catholics and the Catholic Church wonder why liberal crap happens in Catholic schoola, colleges being the least of the problem. Look at the elementary or k-8 schools to see where it starts. Then look at the parents which where it all really starts.

Liberal Crap happens in Catholic Schools because parents don’t parent their kids. It’s really not that hard to understand. And these same parents, don’t teach their kids about the Church (if they’re Catholics).

Looking at Catholic Colleges is way too late, imo. If anyone, any parent, waits until their kids are in college to expect them to understand and follow the teachings of the Catholic Church, they waited far too long. The College isn’t to blame, nor is the high school or elementary school Parents are to blame.

And again, any college student that isn’t able to survive and succeed in any college, including a Catholic college, has no business being there.

To hell with this victim mentality, no matter where it comes from.

Boo Hoo the Catholic Universities and Colleges aren’t as Catholic as some would like. Do we really expect them to be?

They exist because there’s a market for them/alumni that support the schools. No one is forcing anyone else to attend these schools.

The Catholic Church (not the American Catholic Church and not those who claim to be Catholic but really aren’t) doesn’t really give as you said a crap about this crap. The Catholic Church doesn’t give a crap about this (per your words) because it’s not about the Catholic Church and the humans that are prominent.

Nice slam on the Catholic Church. Fortunately, any real Catholic doesn’t fall for this “crap.”

I respect you and usually agree with what you post but certainly don’t agree with this post.

Another reason to homeschool?

You gotta be kidding me. I never expected to see that tripe from you, Salvation. It’s beneath you. Homeschooling is wonderful. And for those that choose to do it, more power to them. But WTH? So those of us who Catholic School our kids and those of us Catholics who public school, what about that? And then when our kids are college age, per this thread, what?

I’m seriously disappointed by your post. I never expected to see that from you.

There are those who claim to be Catholic and really aren’t. Just as those who claim to be Bible believing Christians aren’t really.

Gosh. Some of you people kill me.

Damn, 54% of so called Catholics voted for Obama. Are they really Catholics? Is Pelosi, Kennedy, Biden, really Catholic? Are half of those who claim to be Catholic really Catholic? Are half of those claiming to be Christian, Catholic or any Protestant denom really Christian?

Some of you people disgust me. you’re no better than those you trash. Way to be “Christian.” RME.

Nice slam on the Catholic Church.

Huh?

Boston College has a School of Education. It turns out teachers for K-12. The liberal drivel taught in Catholic colleges eventually gets taught, in turn, by these K-12 teachers to their own students in schools.

Oh yes, of course it’s about the awful College of Education in all colleges/universities. Adults are stupid, and 18-22 year olds are so stupid that they’re controlled by these awful colleges of education in all the local and state universities. And of course they’re just students, and not adults.

I’m more than aware of what is taught in Colleges and Universities, in all Majors. Yet, some of us are still able to think clearly and not be influenced.

So Boston College and other Catholic Universities, have a College of Education (which is bad in and of itself just because it’s the college of education after all)and those students graduate and then teach in elementary and high school, Catholic Schools of course, and those teachers who attended Catholic Universities teach their drivel to their students.

Do I have that right?

So the big bad universities have all the control and nothing the kids learned in their family mean anything? Is that what you’re saying? The 18-22 yr olds are controlled by their family and their colleges and can’t think on their own?

And teachers have so much control, much more than parents of course. Kids screw up, then it’s the teachers fault right? Not the parents, not the kid since it’s never the kid’s fault. Someone has to blamed. Yeah, great way to teach responsibility and accountablity.

The liberal drivel taught in ALL colleges and universities shouldn’t be able to offset what is taught in the home and if by some chance it is, maybe we need to hold those kids accountable? Stop blaming schools for the screw ups?

The so called liberal drivel taught in Catholic Colleges is taught in Non-Catholic Colleges, one of which I attended and survived just fine.

I give up. Some of these posts, yours included, make no real argument and just looking to blame anything and anyone for opinions not back up by factual info.

Let’s just blame the Catholic Church in this thread. After all, it makes others not responsible for their own education and subsequent behavior. Not to mention their Catholic Faith.
