Xeriscape?
Zer iss no xcape from the rotten controlling city council and county supervisors.
Don’t let Agenda 21 prevail!
Grass especially really long grass removes more CO2 from the air...
That may be true, but California is the garden of Eden for plants. Things can grow here from all over the world, and people with little plots of land could grow practically anything their hearts desire, from avocados and bananas, to conifers to succulents to cactus to herbs and fruits and vegetables to a wonderful assortment of flowers.
To confine yourself and your property to something that is going to condone the phony ‘green’ movement is a waste of a life. The creator put too many beautiful plants on the planet, they are to be cherished and enjoyed, not avoided because of a group stupid totalitarian bureaucrats.
And then I’ll tell you how I really think! ;-0
Our local frogs have been knocking on our doors wanting to come in from the heavy rains.
I hope none of them are Red Legged Frogs.
Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk!
.
I watched the local CBS station (channel5) for another reason.
They showed the guy who measures the snowfall/snowpack and how he measures the snowpack. However I don’t think that he/they made any comments re the current snowpack.
Many of our streams in the North Bay have or are reaching flood stages with no place for the run offs besides over flowing.
“Those who would like to build new reservoirs and canals and to weaken environmental regulations have invoked the drought like a mantra in recent weeks.”
How ‘bout not charging power customers to tear out the dams we already have!!!
I am NOT giving up my garden. What I am going to do is develop a little spring on the property, pump that water to storage tanks, and also use the tanks to capture rain water. Why we don’t have cisterns is beyond me. We let 40 to 50 inches of rain a year just pour off the roof and into the woods. I want to capture some of it.
Lord please give us new snow in the Sierra.
Farmers in the Westlands Water District, slated for zero water this year, are plowing up their orchards and vineyards in west Fresno County. Very sad.
Cisterns are a great idea. Even small barrels can be used if you don’t have a lot of room.
Are we going to see a dustbowl in California?
Here are some plans for a cistern, if you cared to make one for yourself. Good luck with your garden!

Thank you thank you thank you for that link!
I truly believe that most new houses should have cisterns. It’s just silly to let the rain water just run off.
