Unfortunately no I’ve never raised a teenager. The closest I’ve come is raising the daughter of a girlfriend for the first 5 years of her life. After 2 years she knew if I said something to believe it. On the other hand her mother could not control her. I never laid a hand on her but she was setting in a corner before she could walk with me right behind her. Her mother would yell and believed in spanking for anything. The out come her and me are still very close she will not even talk to her mother. She will ask for my advice, I give advice not tell her what to do.
So over simplistic I think not it is set in the first years of their life. If as a baby they learn they control you that is how they respond to anyone older. They have it ingrained they are are in control. At that point it takes something like this to show different. I’m reminded of the guy that was caned in Taiwan when asked if he would ever repeat the offense, He said not in Taiwan.
If only the girl was a member of the Palin family. The cop would be a world wide hero by now.
And that said, you become a hero for throwing your shoe if President Bush is the target.
Just a couple of random thoughts.
what an asshole... another king shit cop.
To some here, like "tupac" he already is.
Please, don't ever become a cop or, maybe a parent either. If you think that she deserved a beating base on your surmise from a video that she never got spanked then you are incapable of handling children. Or, even understanding them.
Nothing I wrote implied that she deserved the beating she got. I offered a surmise about the origins of her attitude, nothing more.
How could Brunner see through Schene's pants and how could Brunner tell if Schene was in pain - X-ray vision? Telepathy?
These jokers knew their goose was cooked and obviously tried to get their stories straight in a vain hope of mitigating punishment.
The “1967 vs 2007” comparison of social norms and attitudes has been posted here recently....after reading the backstory it appears that the girls were joyriding. It may technically be auto theft but it’s doubtful they meant to keep the vehicle, sell it or leave town altogether. If it was joyriding then treating them like hardened criminals makes no sense which makes the beating even more egregious.
My take is they either forgot about, or did not care about the surveilance tape. IMO, they never gave a second thought as to whether their report would be questioned.
I do not know the dept regulations. From the posted article it states that he sustained injury from her actions so yes it was. Just as I would not say what your actions in the given situation would be. I will not judge him on his actions. I personally do don’t feel pain like most. Ie, hip dislocated was walking in 3 days, hand shattered put on a glove and kept working for 4 weeks. More than likely I’d have laughed at her. and shut the door.
Have you seen the photo of the scene that is supposedly the final exam for a class of prospective police dogs? It shows a line of about a dozen big mean looking dogs, all sitting at their handler’s side. Meanwhile there’s a very prissy cat walking across in front of them. Great picture.
The final test for cops should be a teen like this girl! Someone who has not been desensitized to the crap they can give by having to live with and deal with one has no idea how easy it can be to blow your cool. The North Vietnamese had nothing on the girls.
They should hire this girl to be part of the curriculum of the local law enforcement training program. She’s obviously very good at what she does.
I haven’t watched the video again today but someone pointed out that one deputy banged his shin against the jail cell toilet as he chased after the girl...would explain the injury assuming there was one.
Assault?
Technically... MAYBE.
Realistically, not even close.
This cop has issues and needs a psych eval and counseling.
His record should be reviewed, and if there is a pattern of this JBT violence against unarmed, subdued, etc. prisoners/suspects, he should be fired.
This girl is going to be very rich soon due to an obvious (to anyone with a modicum of common sense)overreaction by this particular cop.
My son is a deputy sheriff and tells the story of when he got a dash-cam in his car. He was mortified at the way he saw himself on the first tape of a traffic stop. Says he never had any idea of how he was coming across to the people he had stopped. Certainly changed his approach to his job.
Too bad we can't roll the clock back a few months and show this tape to the deputy involved. If the incident wasn't such a scary peek into this man's way of handling stress I would just call it a tie.
Thanks again!
You are now on record as saying this was self defense on the part of the deputy. From the article:
Brunner and Schene's reports both said the shoe struck Schene in the right shin, causing "bruising, bleeding and pain."
Did you see the tape? If so, do you think there is any way her shoe caused the injuries they claim?
It is very difficult to injure an unborn child. You almost have to have that outcome in mind. The unborn child is protected by one of the best systems ever designed.
Please don’t get me wrong, I am not saying it can’t happen. It can, and does. But, like the exploding car story I spoke to last week it’s not nearly as common as one might expect.
Did the officer over-react? No question about that. He seems temperamentally unsuited to the work he was doing. Yes, the girl will be compensated.
Bullsh*t.
It was an over-reaction and unecessary use of violence against an essentially, harmless little twit.
This JBT, especially if he has displayed a pattern of this unecessary violence against prisoners/suspects, should be fired.
The girl and her parents should file civil, and perhaps, criminal charges against this unfit JBT.
This video reminded me of the big cop who body slammed the little old lady in New Orleans to confiscate her legally owned firearm in the aftermath of Katrina.
Yet another unecessary over-reaction and use of violence that should have resulted in a firing and possibly, criminal charges against the JBT.
Check out the tape.
Correction: “...that’s not the criterion for judging whether an assault occurred or not.”
