The residents of the villages visited by Yanev are not Turks; they are all Bulgarian-Muslims, speaking only Bulgarian language.
So, these folks are already muzzies, it's just that they're being nudged into "active" (radical) muslim status through their schools?
I'm not saying that's a good thing, but it's not exactly like civilized Christians were being converted at the point of a sword.
The Bulgarian Communists basically tried to force all of the Turks in the country to become “Bulgarized”, they were forced to take Bulgarian names and forced to only speak Bulgarian. It seems that now things are returning back to where they were before Bulgaria became Communist.
