Building MSM Consensus Obama Blowing It?
FinkelBlog ^ | Mark Finkelstein

The graphic below David Gregory’s speaks of “despair over rescue efforts.” There’s evidence this morning that the hopelessness has reached the MSM–and that it is largely directed at the president himself. Earlier, I noted how Jim Cramer, appearing on Today, accused President Obama of promoting a “radical agenda” that is “the greatest wealth destruction I’ve seen by a president.”

Over on Good Morning America, venerable Wall Street hand Art Cashin, chatting with Chris Cuomo, similarly pointed a finger in the White House’s direction.

CHRIS CUOMO: You look at this situation, and you point a finger at the government. Their inability to get it right has let us down. Why?

ART CASHIN: I think the AIG problem yesterday was another example. We put in $30 billion on top of $150 billion, and yet nobody in the government, or even at the company, seems to have a real grasp of what the problem is . . . This seems to be addressing the problem in an ad hoc fashion without a comprehensive plan.

Ouch! But OK, Cashin is a Wall Street guy, as is Cramer. Perhaps it’s natural for them not to be big fans of Pres. Obama’s big-government designs. But then, David Gregory, who nowadays is in the moderating business and not normally given to stating strong personal opinions, expressed surprising skepticism about the Obama administration’s plans during a Morning Joe appearance . . .

The MSM is starting to feel the same insecurity in their jobs and futures and as the rest of us. Obama is such a huge disaster and people are scared. Obama’s plan to blame the economy on President Bush is not going to work. The sooner he gets that message the better for all of us.

Me thinks the Rush gambit might not be providing the cover Obama and company are seeking. Of course, why would it have? I mean, what is Obama going to do blame his failures on the fact that Rush wanted him to fail? “I only failed because Rush wanted me to.”

Failure is failure and being POTUS is a performance business. If you fail, you end up as Jimmuh Carter no ifs, ands or buts.

I keep thinking that our only hope is that the MSM turns on Obama. When enough of them realize that he is picking and choosing who gets to ask him questions and when they have had enough of their portfolios tanking, maybe they’ll turn on him. I don’t think it’s unthinkable. Does anyone else think it could happen?

Reality is intruding in their little world...

By summer, the following “absolute truths” will no longer be operative:

1. Global Warming.
2. Obama knows what he is doing.
3. Iraq is a quagmire.
4. Taxes are too low.
5. The country needs stimulus through deficit spending.

Temporary. The MSM will stay in this dysfunctional situation like an abused spouse. Every now and then they’ll get something approaching a moment of clarity then go back to making excuses for the abuse, and more particularly, the abuser.

As the Vietnam war directly affected more and more people (dead sons and acquaintences), it lost popularity at a grass roots level. People respond to how things impact them directly. It is why opposition to Iraq never took hold. The body count simply did not affect a large enough number of people.

As this economy affects more and more people, the backlash will be stronger and stronger. Eventually it will hit critical mass. Then it gets interesting.

The Rush gambit is turning out to be brilliant on Rush's part.

When you say "fail" what's the first word that comes to your mind? Mine is "Obama"

When Olbermann turns on him, you’ll know the game is up.

That’ll be the time to resign and get out of town.

One good thing about it though, most of the MSM are going to be out of a job soon.
