Russian scholar says US will collapse next year (Martial Law, Six-Way Split, etc.)
The Rock Hill Herald / The Associated Press ^ | March 4, 2009 | Mike Eckel

MOSCOW -- If you're inclined to believe Igor Panarin, and the Kremlin wouldn't mind if you did, then President Barack Obama will order martial law this year, the U.S. will split into six rump-states before 2011, and Russia and China will become the backbones of a new world order.

Panarin might be easy to ignore but for the fact that he is a dean at the Foreign Ministry's school for future diplomats and a regular on Russia's state-guided TV channels. And his predictions fit into the anti-American story line of the Kremlin leadership.

"There is a high probability that the collapse of the United States will occur by 2010," Panarin told dozens of students, professors and diplomats Tuesday at the Diplomatic Academy - a lecture the ministry pointedly invited The Associated Press and other foreign media to attend.

The prediction from Panarin, a former spokesman for Russia's Federal Space Agency and reportedly an ex-KGB analyst, meshes with the negative view of the U.S. that has been flowing from the Kremlin in recent years, in particular from Vladimir Putin.

Putin, the former president who is now prime minister, has likened the United States to Nazi Germany's Third Reich and blames Washington for the global financial crisis that has pounded the Russian economy.

Panarin didn't give many specifics on what underlies his analysis, mostly citing newspapers, magazines and other open sources.

He also noted he had been predicting the demise of the world's wealthiest country for more than a decade now.

But he said the recent economic turmoil in the U.S. and other "social and cultural phenomena" led him to nail down a specific timeframe for "The End" - when the United States will break up into six autonomous regions and Alaska will revert to Russian control.

Alaska was bought by the US, fair and square. The Russian Empire agreed to the deal and it was under no duress to do so — they just thought they were selling off a lump of ice.

"cut loose of America’s economic engine, deep water ports, centers of hi-tech research, and premier universities."

So these things only exist in liberal welfare states? Can they not exist elsewhere? Since when was California our economic engine? The state is bankrupt, and in more ways than financially. I'm not even going to get into what you refer to as "premier universities". lol

If California was its own country, it would be the 7th largest economy in the world.

Premier universities = MIT, CalTech, Columbia, Stanford, etc. etc. It is where the next generation of technology is being created.

And oh yes, don’t forget the headquarters of America’s largest corporations.

I’m not so sure I can wait for the electoral revolt. —

Indeed.

Exactly. The American South is not the war-ravaged backwater of generations ago. There are plenty of ports from the Carolians through Florida, LA and Texas, and some world class universities. It’s also the home of America’s THRIVING automobile industry, and aerospace. I’d put Duke, Emory, University of Texas (for example) against the best universities in the Northeast.

Yes, I imagine it’s a tough choice for a lot of science oriented students — Gee, do I go to MIT or University of Texas? Tough one.

Actually no —it’s just home to relatively cheap American labor. The corporate headquarters are elsewhere.

This is the view from a non-American pro-American outsider.

Thank you for your support, even though we do not deserve it as much as we used to...

It is embarrassing when a former KGB agent is more accurate in his assessment of the USA than the American POTUS. The Kenyan and the DNC would have us believe that Washington Dems in congress had NOTHING (I KNOW NOTH-ING) to do with the financial crisis.

I have little doubt that Zero will eventually seize upon a convenient crisis to justify the imposition of martial law.

Maybe I’m misinformed but I believe that is where our next generation of commies is being created.

They would get a better education at Rice or A&M or Texas Tech.

If we could get rid of California, New York, Massachusetts and a few other liberal hell-holes, it sounds good to me!

Keep upstate NY.....besides Ithaca and a few other small, very controllable liberal hamlets, it’s quite conservative...

Obama wants to know if this Marshall Law guy is someone he can appoint to his cabinet and if he’s paid his taxes.

Naw. Marshall Law has been too tough on illegal immigrants, so he's out.
