Gun Owners of America has put together an email campaign to get Congress to approve the repeal of most of DC's gun control. The measure has passed the Senate and now is to be considered in the House, if Speaker Pelosi doesn't block it.

If you want to take action on this matter by sending a prewritten email to your Congressman, click here:

The notice looks like this:

Senate Repeals D.C. Gun Ban By Large Vote
— But the fight in the House is just beginning

By a resounding vote of 62 to 36 last week, the U.S. Senate has approved an amendment, offered by Senator John Ensign of Nevada, to repeal the D.C. gun ban.

Congratulations!

But the battle is not over.

This week, the House will take up the D.C. voting legislation. And anti-gun Speaker Nancy Pelosi is angling to impose a “gag rule” on the House, so that D.C. gets its unconstitutional representative, while continuing its draconian anti-gun laws (like microstamping).

So here’s the deal: The House will be asked to consider a “rule” which establishes the time for debate and provides for which amendments may be considered — and which may not.

It is expected that the Pelosi rule will seek to deny the House any vote on the D.C. gun ban and thereby strip the repeal of the ban from the House bill.

So what we are asking you to do is to write and/or call your congressman and demand that he oppose any rule that strips the D.C. gun ban repeal from the D.C. voting bill.

Just to remind you of how draconian the D.C. gun law is:

* Following the Supreme Court’s decision in Heller declaring the law to be unconstitutional, D.C. made a few cosmetic changes which will, as a practical matter, allow it to continue to deny its citizens the right to keep and bear arms.

* Then, the City Council passed a whole series of new anti-gun measures. These include a requirement that most guns used for self-defense “microstamp” fired casings in two places with a “unique serial number.”

Aside from being ineffectual with respect to stolen guns or crimes where the brass has not been left behind, this microstamping provision is intended to make guns so expensive that they won’t be available anywhere — including your state.

ACTION: Write your Representative and urge him or her in the strongest terms to oppose any rule which will strip the gun ban repeal from the D.C. voting bill.

You can use the Take Action feature below to send your Representative a pre-written e-mail message.

Great link ... user friendly ...thanks BMW.

We need to keep the pressure on ...although in my rep’s case, it is a lost cause.

Done...though I have little doubt about Jon Culbertson. I'm lucky, my Rep. pretty much supports what I support.

The time to fight is now!!! The Right to Keep and Bear Arms IS an Absolute Right

I’ve yet to get a straight answer on this.

What *specifically* would this law do?

I know DC responded to Heller by imposing equally-unconstitutional rules like requiring registration, fees, a multiple-month, dozen step process, and labeling any pistol that accepts a magazine a “machine gun”.

But what exactly would be the law under this? You can have whatever gun you choose with no registration whatsoever (but still no concealed carry)? Or just some pitiful token gesture, like dropping the ban on pistols but still requiring you to get permission, take it to the police station, register and pay recurring fees, etc?

My Congressman is an A+ rated pro-gun conservative. I will email him to ask for his support on this bill, but I'm 99.9% sure that he has already been given the alert by NRA and GOA and will vote to restore the RKBA to the residents of the nation's capitol city.

The bill may pass unless Pelosi puts out the word to her troops to vote it down. But even if it makes it through Congress intact, I wouldn't bet a copper penny that the Magic Kenyan will sign it into law. He is by far the most radically anti-gun president we have had to contend with up until now. The Clintons were, and still are, dedicated gungrabbers for sure, but this Obamamamajama character is so radical on 2nd Amendment issues that he makes the Clintons look almost reasonable by comparison.

Notice that I said "almost" reasonable", and "by comparison". Nobody could ever seriously say that those two are reasonable on 2nd A and self defense issues, or on any other basic human right for that matter.
