Lawmakers in 20 states move to reclaim sovereignty

NEW YORK – As the Obama administration attempts to push through Congress a nearly $1 trillion deficit spending plan that is weighted heavily toward advancing typically Democratic-supported social welfare programs, a rebellion against the growing dominance of federal control is beginning to spread at the state level.

So far, eight states have introduced resolutions declaring state sovereignty under the Ninth and Tenth Amendment to the Constitution, including Arizona, Hawaii, Montana, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, Oklahoma and Washington.

Analysts expect that in addition, another 20 states may see similar measures introduced this year, including Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Nevada, Maine and Pennsylvania.

"What we are trying to do is to get the U.S. Congress out of the state's business," Oklahoma Republican state Sen. Randy Brogdon told WND...

If they want to keep Washington out of state business, then they need to stop accepting Federal money.

That's the whole point, Washington doesn't have any money other than what it collects from taxpayers.

So the revenues they are collecting to butt into the states business should be returned to the taxpayers. The states could then increase their taxes if they felt a particular program was in the best interest of their residents.

By taking our money away and then using it to either punish or reward us they have in fact made us their subjects (slaves).

“.......Colorado, for a while, had a provision that all money being paid in federal taxes had to pass through the state house first, to ensure the state got a “fair share”?”

Not entirely sure how that would work. Seems like my federal tax payments don’t go to a Colorado address. Again, probably just some politician(s) grandstanding up in Denver.

Several states have voiced opposition to receiving some portions of the “stimulus” money the fed has legislated. The fed has threatened them if they do not take the money...and mandates. There is also a matter of the federal government destroying the people’s future with huge debt. Many states are objecting to this. I am not sure what consequences you are looking for, but I would say that this is a huge one thus far. And, one that may actually prevent bloodshed in the future. This little dictator and his minions must be stopped!

>talking about REGIONAL Cap and Trade if it doesn’t fly nationally!

Oy! Tell me again... WHY are political assassinations illegal again? My theory is it’s the USSC’s way of CYA. (Honestly, they legalized plain theft, under the guise of “imminent domain”.)

This is wonderful only as long as these wonderful Americans follow through with gutsy stands at all junctures to let the world know they’re serious!!!

It’s encouraging, but the Federal Government has the Army and the National Guard.

Nope! The National Guard, which many years ago I was a member before Korea, is made up of servicemen of the State they reside in. No danger there of following a corrupt King Obama if he tries to exercise force. Second, the military, and I have some friends that are in, have no respect for King Obama. They would never hurt their own family. King Obama is on his own and he has no idea yet.

I don’t WANT to think that, but it has happened in other countries.

I love our military, but how many would just follow orders?

We say it can’t happen here, butwho really knows?

In our country, because of the people owning so many guns, it would not be a matter of simply police type control. It would very likely be more like war. They will not war on us! I have every faith in them, they are OUR sons and daughters.

These resolutions, like in my Oklahoma, rank right up there with declarations of State Bubblegum day.

ABSOFREAKEN BLOODY USELESS, AND QUITE POINTLESS!!!

My town, Shawnee, is skipping and gloating about getting another Federal $2,000,000 that the Good Old Boys can plunder in the name of pissant "social" programs, or War on Drugs toys.

That is reassuring. I hope most of our guys would turn their guns on the ones who deserve it.

The National guardsmen would no doubt defend their homes, friends, and families against the evil ones.

Certain paramilitary forces connected to Homeland Security—these are the ones who might side with the Obamanistas.

I’m scaring myself even thinking about this.

I have had friends who escaped from Cuba after the Revolution, and others who escaped from Hungary after the Uprising. I can’t get their stories out of my mind. The people who turned against them, spied on them, reported them—these were neighbors, church congregants, even some priests. To save their own skin, the informers in every age turn on their own best friends.

Thanks. Have seen several iterations of this article from various sources. Good to see at least the “new” media is giving these state initiatives some ink.
