Obama proclaimed many times during the campaign, “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.” He and his throngs of supporters preened in the glow of their own righteousness like cats in a puddle of sunlight. They were for “shared sacrifice” and a “new era of responsibility.” They wanted to put aside the “old politics” and the “tired arguments” of the past.

Shared Sacrifice? He has come for your income, what next, 401K, safety deposit boxes, CDs, T-Bills, Mutual Funds, 'inheritance", real & personal property, etc?

WARNING: DON"T THINK IT CAN"T HAPPEN!

He is doing exactly what his wife said he would. She said some people were going to have to give up things when Brack comes into power, to paraphrase. The people giving up things are the productive, responsible people in society.

Kiss our 401Ks goodby. I’m thinking of liquidating mine.

The Dow closed at 6594 yesterday, heading for 6200 today.

All is well because there aren’t any ‘rich’ people left.

And, thanks to Obama, the poor will pay even more. President Obama’s proposed carbon tax will raise the price of energy. In an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle in early 2008, candidate Obama admitted as much: “Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.”

Liberals will defend Obama’s carbon tax by saying it’s vitally necessary to combat climate change, end our dependence on foreign oil and boost our embryonic green industries like wind and solar. Fine, fine. We can have that argument, as weak as I think it may be.

But why isn’t Obama honest about the fact that he’s asking the working poor and middle class to pay even more? He’s the guy who talks such a big game about shared sacrifice. He’s the one talking about a “new era of responsibility.”

We'll ALL rue the day this man was elected.

I suspect a DOW at 5,000 before the stampede and "general" panic begins....

The panic selling has yet to reach critical mass...... The next step, extreme panic, including realization that ignorance at the polls is no longer correctable, will be determined by the American Producer...the non-producers will simply demand more of the same largess..

Disclaimer: This is simply my opinion....and yes I am an angry investor that has lost much....

"Shared sacrifice” really means taking other people's money, while “greed” is not wanting to give it up and “responsibility” is when the government takes it anyway......

Kiss our 401Ks goodby.

Look at the first two pages of the FR search with 401K as the keyword.

401K

There are numerous threads with the title of:

House Democrats Contemplate Abolishing 401(k) Tax Breaks!!!

Also, see the number of threads titled:

Dems Target Private Retirement Accounts

IIRC, one of BO's pastors (Not the G** D*** America one) said it was time for everyone to "share" their retirements with those less fortunate.

Oh well... most everyone who has busted their butt over the last 20 years has now seen half their retirement savings go up in smoke.

The Obamas must be happy. They have a mansion, book deals, and retirement at our expense.

FUBO, and FUMO

Cap and Trade is just a place to place a third party between your utility and you to vacuum cash...not unlike “health insurance” in some ways. They take advantage of the vulnerability of dependency. It makes REAL TRUE AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE that much more valuable a commodity, and that much more, an enemy of the state.

If the current economic crisis had been caused by drought, natural disasters, attacks from enemies or some other external cause “shared sacrifice” might make some sense.

However, this crisis has been caused by greedy, stupid, corrupt home buyers, lenders, investment bankers, bond rating agencied, and politicians.

This is not a time for “shared sacrifice” but a time for the guilty to reap the negative consequences of their bad behavior.

The innocent are already suffering a great deal of collateral damage from the actions of these evil doers. To ask them to sacrifice more to so the evil doers can avoid their just deserts is an outrage!

Also, if we are going to have “shared sacrifice” I believe it should start with the 40% of Americans who pay no Federal Income Taxes at all. The ACORN and union freeloaders who consume vast amounts of taxpayer dollars, while contributing little or nothing should start paying their fair share.

So true. I have worked my A$$ off, 6 and 7 days a week for the last 30 years and now it's all going to just be taken away. A third of what I'd saved has disappeared in the last year. I think I need a new plan.

Are you just switching from stocks to money markets? I’ve been switching over to money funds since December but am still not confident that this is a good move. I just hate locking in the losses but I also hate seeing the daily loss of my family’s hard earned meager wealth.

I heard that alot of our money is ending up in the Mexican drug cartel’s now existing in our cities in every state (except Michigan).
