Edward Griffen, is also the author of an interesting book on the history of the Federal Reserve titled “The Creature From Jekyll Island.” Jekyll Island is a small island off the coast of Georgia, where a group of international bankers secretly met in 1910. While hunting duck, they collectively hatched the idea for a central bank — the Federal Reserve — as a way to inflate and deflate the quantity of money and credit in the U.S. economy.
At the time, there were at least a few outspoken congressmen who understood that this was a way of putting the power to create “economic crises on demand” in the hands of an oligarchy of private bankers.
