Every morning, a group of old friends have a nice chat. ABC's George Stephanopoulos, CNN's James Carville, CNN commentator Paul Begala, and Obama's Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel have a wide ranging conference call, usually starting just before dawn. Democrat Pollster Stan Greenberg is a frequent participant. They examine current events and how they fit into the new administrations policies. They determine how to best get their message to the public. Wahzgoanawn?" is a typically mumbled salutation from James Carville, translated from his strong accent into "What's going on?"
Apparently they talk sports also.
When they next appear on various programs as interviewers or interviewees, their comments do not conflict with each other. They have coordinated the broad themes and the topics, and after that early morning phone call they coordinate with their personal networks and associates, influencing and coaxing the comment and reportage on specific issues nationwide.
In January Politico had a puff piece on this relationship entitled; Power, politics, gossip on daily call' filled with happy quotes from the gang about the long running friendship, painting it as a sort of good buddy telephone tradition.
"And in any given news cycle, it is quite likely that Washington's prevailing political and media interpretation -- at least on the Democratic side -- is being hatched on these calls. The process happens not by design but as the byproduct of pre-dawn badinage -- a smart-set take on the world that gets amplified by the prominent platforms all of them hold and by the dozens of later calls and lunches and rants that they will carry on with others throughout the day. "
From an information consumer's standpoint it is disturbing that several main networks are so tuned into White House message shaping.

Full disclosure is good, I think.
Every time Begala, Carville, etc. are on the talking head shows, they should be clearly labeled as Clinton Democrat operatives.
Stephanopolous should also be labeled as such, so that people know to devalue what they say because of their bias.
I think Chris Matthews used to work for Tip O’Neill, if I recall correctly?
Anybody we see should have their biases revealed so we know how much or how little to value what they say.
Stephanopolous especially is allegedly a serious journalist now. But he’s a Clintonista. Once a Clintonista, always a Clintonista. Some younger people especially may not remember that he came to Washington with Bill and Hillary after working on their campaign.
Steffie was originally a Dick Gephardt protege. Matthews did indeed work for Tip ONeill. Tim Russert was a Cuomo staffer.
I think it is also time to use the Left Wing and Far Left Wing in every available opportunity for the Democrats.
The neo-communist adjective needs to be applied frequently too.
Anderson Cooper interveiwed Begala, and Laura Ingraham played some of it—you could HEAR Begala’s nauseating nervous grin through the radio as he avoided answering the questions.
Speaking of Begala, did anyone see on Rush’s website how Rush conflated “The Forehead” with the kid playing the banjo on the bridge in “Deliverance.” I nearly wet my pants I was laughing so hard. Showed it to my wife — she’s still rolling!
And the MSM can’t figure out why their audience is dropping? Could it be that the American people do not want government generated propaganda to be sold as news? Too bad there is no one in journalism who is brave enough to call this dishonest. This is little different than Joseph Goebbels telling the German newspapers what to print about Hitler.
“Kids with no teeth who do nothing but play the banjo... eat apple sauce through a straw... pork farm animals.”
I never told anybody to lie, not a single time never.
