“Paper terrorism??????” What the hell is that? Anything the government doesn’t like will just become an adjective attached to “terrorism.” And, of course, an adjective attached to a noun like that nullifies the meaning of the noun. Like “compassionate conservatism.” And sooner or later, the noun becomes meaningless on its own. Like “conservatism.”

The big difference between the M-14, the M-16, the M-1, etc. and a machine gun is this ~ when you are using the standard issue firearm and you flip that switch to rock and roll IT STOPS when you run out of bullets.

Now an M-60 or any other device the troops think of as a machine-gun (excluding Schmucky Schumer from this discussion) will just keep on firing and firing and firing ~ while rotating and rotating. You gotta' hold'em down.

Excuse me - typing "M1" and I think I meant "BAR". We didn't have one around when I was in the service although I do recall a training session at Benning where they had one to "display" to show the differences should we ever encounter one.

My APC had a box with smaller autofire devices ~ M3A1 is what I'm guessing they were but we never fired them. Didn't even have the right ammunition, or the magazine ~ whatever the problems that was Peacetime Deutschland (1967/68) and strange things existed.

There was an entirely different sort of weapon we had access to although it was being withdrawn from service ~ beat the hell out of any machinegun ~ The M-388 Davy Crockett tactical nuclear recoilless rifle projectile. Now that's what you want to have at hand when the sh*+ falls in.
